  1. Yes, but as with any outdoors excursion take the proper precautions. - tell someone where you're riding. - take your phone - have proper tools and hydration - note the emergency number
  2. Actually I managed it with a hand pump out on a ride after I burped the tyre off the rim. True story. Witnesses !
  3. I feel it incumbent upon me to tell you all that I'm noshing down on a rather large slice of chocolate cake.... oh, crumbs.
  4. Bloody good news, no doubt he'll do us proud! Alongside our other riders, definitely a great ambassador for the sport ... Next time though, use some decent PR pics Gameplan
  5. Check at Neils Wheels
  6. Wasn't talking to you, back in stoep chair! With seatbelt . . .
  7. Melodramatic much? CC responded, they gave their reasoning. Now everyone wants the skinder. You lot are like a knitting circle ... Much ado about nothing and now the high horses are being trotted out.
  8. Who cares, I'm more interested in the 'monster' cookie!
  9. Yes and no, Probike had the Raleigh branding rights locally and specced a local line of Raleigh/Nomad bikes. That fell away as the international range is being introduced, so you wont find the local range of old anymore, but Probike have introduced the Axis brand to essentially pick up from the Nomad range and expand on that.
  10. Ya, when a sever PK is needed instead, and not on the wrist either!
  11. Ride before you buy was Bicycling, not Ride. Those days weren't always well supported.
  12. Might be a good idea to contact the club then as well and at least inform them.
  13. What a bunch of chops, no need to be riding like that. Reading this thread though some okes have serious issues and perhaps a slight chip on the shoulder
  14. Since you participated, that would include yourself then
  15. Was covering some stuff in Alex earlier. Was speaking to a dude, he pedals one of those ice cream carts and puts money aside for his studies. This oke rides this thing everywhere, through rain, sun, winter etc ... He also works another job at a factory in Germiston, rides there and back all the time. So yeah, we're all 'tough' in our own way but I reckon this chap would **** us all up! Something to keep in mind when we're all riding for fun and thinking up crap about what other folk wear.
  16. Why would the guy hit his bonnet? ...
  17. Have replaced a slat here and there once or twice, as far as bush foliage goes I don't find it a problem as such really except for the grass veld sections at times because of how deep the track wears. But since the council cuts that grass it's really much of a non issue. Don't feel the onus is on the bike shops to be taking care of this. Would be good to confirm what RB heard and fom whom he heard it, would be nice for the rest of to have the details as such. Have left a request at SAPS if anything was reported. Doubtful of the story, but would be incredibly sad and disappointed if this happened on the Spruit.
  18. Yeah, think your best bet is to contact Momsen directly. Either way I think you can get a really good deal on a couple of brands really, at the 9k mark it's one of the more competitive areas for 29rs. So there plenty good options out there, Momsen, Scott, Merida, Silverback etc ...
  19. http://www.momsenbikes.com/dealers_sa.cfm
  20. Quite honestly, I think if you save a bit more and look at the Momsen 329 I think. It's R9800 or so and practically unbeatable value for money at that price.
  21. Just the cleats. Grip the pedal though and see if you have any movement on the axle, if it's more than noticeable then it may be time for new bearings or pedals. Pedal release mechanism lasts forever though, generally.
  22. Grey Owl, former hubber and supplier of shoe boxes with magazines. Also the cyclist in that clip.
