  1. Eeeer I did read it and believe they gave a good account of their practice. Can keep going in circles on the finer semantics, but on the whole they’re not being dishonest if we actually look at it objectively.
  2. Haven’t found a single company that carries a consistent sizing chart, sizing is one thing. But fit is another 😑 Of course my curse with clothing, as bikes, is that I’m often in between sizing. So with bibs, depending on the cut/pattern I might have to size down. With the Corse bibs I’ve got three generations across four or five different sets. Slight differences among them but I’ve found them to be long lasting and pretty good all rounders. Funny thing about sizing, a mate ordered a packable puffer from Nature Hike, he went two sizes up from large. Didn’t fit him so he passed it onto me as im a M/L. Fits perfect, we have a lag every time I wear this XXL jacket 😆
  3. No alignment with Ciovita here, although I think it’s pretty clear that they’re not ‘gaming’ the system as the accusations go though. As outlined the system is an external plugin. In practical terms it’s not really feasible to respond to every positive review as well as dedicating time to resolving complaints. There’s nothing dishonest or untruthful in their approach as outlined. It also helps keep out spam, there’s a lot fake negative reviews out there as well, be it bots or someone with an axes to grind. Imho I don’t see any issues with how Ciovita have described their process. Also keeping in mind their market size and other areas of operations and marketing that require resources.
  4. Not upto BikeHub to determine though. Imho they’ve outlined a reasonable approach from their end.
  5. Op can search the archives on https://www.treadmtb.co.za Trek, Giant and Specialized models the op listed have reviews sometime back, should still be there. Although the sites been through some changes.
  6. Yes! That’s a level of silliness I can subscribe to 🤣
  7. This seems contradictory? They've still named and shamed him, so in essence labelled him. The only difference is they've done so ahead of the Safeguarding Policy investigation, which essentially follows the same process as CSA.
  8. The guys that flew to unbound and then bought some Walmart bikes, one cannibalised as spares. Legends!
  9. But one example among a few, some here will remember Darren Goddard, he was accused and convicted of abuse of minors in his care. The dispensation within CSA at the time, among others, largely thought it best not to 'rock the boat' and made no comment when accusations and subsequent investigations became apparent. It was left to a regional paper and local activists to pursue over years of investigation. Today there are far more capable people within the organisation.
  10. Another option to consider, if you're leaning more towards the road with the occasional offroad venture, but feel more comfortable on flatbars instead of drop bars. Consider a hardtail with a rigid fork. Again, going for a bike fit beforehand can help you make a determination.
  11. Understandably so. At the same time damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Imho in this case the damned if do served the greater responsibility. The sad reality is that cases like these are never swift/straightforward, because of the everlasting damage on everyone it touches, including the (alleged) perpetrator. But the first and foremost priority of well being in that line are the kids.
  12. You’re conflating two vastly different scenarios and circumstances. It’s incredibly disingenuous as well as condescending, particularly when making a claim of double standards. You were quick to snap at someone else who actually made a proactive post.
  13. That’s fair Chris, at the same time any case regarding minors is extremely sensitive Ito specifics shared, both in protecting the victims and prejudicing subsequent investigation and/or prosecution. With respect I don’t think we fully appreciate the dynamics around this and the time period required. Especially if/when it becomes a matter of investigation/prosecution. On the terms alone “grooming, harassment and abuse” these have VERY specific graphic details of definition. Not going to go into it. Imho all messaging semantics asides, CSA had a duty and they’ve followed it to the correct priority.
  14. Saw that, pragmatically I can understand it. So many clubs and people, it would be difficult to implement as a requirement. Especially given the nature of the policy.
  15. CSA’s detailed Safeguarding Policy document can be found here, it even covers notification of SAPS/relevant authorities and the extremely sensitive processes around dealing with minors. https://www.cyclingsa.com/about-us/constitution-and-policies/
  16. “It’s a difficult one unfortunately. Because any statement has to balance out sensitive information in both the protection of minors and possible criminal investigation, along with a duty of care to inform the public.” This could include the individual appointed, by which there was also an appeals panel from SASOC. The federation also name Guardian as the appointed entity. The Safeguarding Policy is widely adopted by sporting codes and ties in with legislation, which includes the direction of reporting to SAPS.
  17. No, criminal prosecution is carried by the state, sometimes with the cooperation of private participation. In any case regarding minors, the state can opt to press charges depending on the balance of evidence and other factord.
  18. Because you cannot by law name/mention a minor. For good reason.
  19. It’s a difficult one unfortunately. Because any statement has to balance out sensitive information in both the protection of minors and possible criminal investigation, along with a duty of care to inform the public.
  20. CSA and SASCOC are state institutions. They are not private. There’s also a process leading upto any criminal matter, which and investigating officer and prosecuting authority would determine thereafter. That’s the whole point of the safe guarding policy, which is adopted throughout the world.
  21. I like how the victims are secondary in consideration. What should CSA have done differently here? They haven’t named any of the victims and followed due process, he’s even been given leeway in the verdict. Its entirely possible criminal charges might follow, for obvious reasons. CSA posted a similar statement regarding one of their officials during the Tokyo Olympics.
  22. If you’re predominately going to be riding on the road, dirt road and smoother MTB trails even. A gravel bike is a really good option, they’re incredibly capable and versatile. Alternatively if you’re more focused on OffRoad, a good spec hardtail is hard to beat, especially if you throw on a dropper post. Go with as good a frame as possible, followed by components/suspension. Wheels can always be upgraded along the line, even stock OEM wheels have come a long ways these days. You can quite happily upgrade performance with alloy wheels and still save money. Most importantly though, determine your sizing and bike fit.
  23. Sucker for punishment, took the gravel bike out to Hennops on Sunday. Great fun, great people, great trails… just a bloody great way to spend Sunday morning!
  24. It’s not the Monster without Breedts.
  25. For a lot of riders it doesn’t go right on the day, part of the racing. Mohric for example. Matt Beers was pragmatic and open about his race. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7twBVdsZHF/?igsh=MXFudmh5MDNjd3Rzcg== Catherine Colyn as well; https://www.instagram.com/p/C7tdT58ODQ7/?igsh=eHUzbmFjNWo5d2Vv Hayley Preen sitting at 9th in the Lifetime rankings going into Unbound. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7qDwk4uHxY/?igsh=MWVlMjNmeG41bzFyYg== An honourable mention to our East African cuzzies from Team Amani https://www.instagram.com/p/C7s4PQzIAps/?igsh=MzliM3FrOXVpYmFh Kev Benky taking fourth in the XL event!
