  1. SCREAMING! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ
  2. Proper! Olympics sparked a fire!
  3. Probably pulled due to the schedule change, same as Tiz. Itโ€™s not DSTV, they donโ€™t set the schedule conditions.
  4. UCI doing UCI things, every world champs. Every time. About as logical and opaque as CSAโ€™s DHI selection ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  5. Channel 950. Tiz is struggling because of the changes due to weather
  6. Channel 243 is on DSTV Streaming, that was for today. Tomorrow is channel 950. The streaming (internet) and broadcast are two different service platforms.
  7. The guys at Trailwolf can sort you out, Kim is often there and they have a good relationship.
  8. Pinkbike seem to following vis their insta stories, also UCI Mountain Biking. Both Pinkbike and Bike Network have some cool video content from Theo Erlangsen.

  11. Unfortunately so, I saw Stefan Garlicki mention it. CSA weren't forthcoming on any comms or clarification. On the plus side there has been a representative appointed for DHI specifically. There's more to be dealt with yet, but at the moment let's enjoy the champs for what it is and support the team riders and support staff who are there. I see Theo Erlangsen is doing some great clips/reels for Bike Network over there.
  12. Unfortunately, no longer around, the founder Pat left sometime bike and started up Pyga Bikes. Perhaps you can reach out to him via Pyga. https://ch.pygaindustries.com/ May be able to put you in touch with a workshop experienced on Morewood.
  13. Flipping incredible, if there's enough to spare maybe also chat with Philimon Sebona (ex Pyga Eurosteel pro) he's based in Pretoria as well and works alongside a cycling NGO/ coaching etc. Happy to pass on his details via DM.
  14. It feels like you guys have just described Menlyn in Pretoria, anywhere bordering Centurion/Midrand or the whole Fourways/Lonehill/Sunninghill Jhb area .... my cchhiiinnnnaa. BYRON, HOWZEIT!

  17. Thanks for this, still processing since the news last week and searching for flights down to CT for the memorial. When first starting out on cycling media while still holding down a full time job Tim was one of the first people I came into touch with via the PPA. Always a mentor and over the better part of twenty years a friendship trading puns, dad jokes and some obscure humour. Always a friend to reconnect at events as weโ€™d go over online messages and banter. A love for cycling and all things good from cycling with a dash of petrolhead appreciation. One of our last conversations we chatted about Barry (Tumbles) โ€ฆ two people who were incredible writers and exceptional people in their own way. One slightly more upright on their bike, most of the time.
  18. It's on FoSBR with a fire map/graphic - https://www.facebook.com/suikerbosrand.friends
  19. Didnโ€™t think it was that bad, there were a few features besides the rock gardens, would guess that one needs to more cautious with cornering on some of the gravel sections as well as the fact youโ€™re carrying more speed into those features. Actually Nick had a hand in the design but not the construction as these were two separate contracts. Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s alway room to do better, given Nickโ€™s experience across numerous Olympic, World Cup and World Champs courses. But thereโ€™s a lot of other factors and bureaucracy at play. Itโ€™s worth mentioning that crashes and mechanicals took out at least two medal contenders tin todays race. edit; this interview with Nick provides a better understanding; https://witness.co.za/news/kzn/2024/07/27/pietermaritzburg-mtb-designers-olympic-feat/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3FVr8sD-KoKO-We5xuLlZAFjMpKeQUiSIU8oFMikQWhl79K1NpeKTkmuE_aem_TSqFLtwloP7Gq5E7411XhA
  20. Likely a concussion (โ€œhead injuryโ€) and a jaw injury for Lecomte. Hopefully nothing too serious and she has a healthy return, that was a bloody hard fall. Props to the broadcasters not going into overt replays. https://www.mbr.co.uk/news/loana-lecomte-suffers-head-trauma-and-jaw-injury-after-shocking-crash-in-paris-2024-olympic-mountain-bike-xco-race-440258 https://www.sportbible.com/other/olympics-2024-loana-lecomte-mountain-bike-crash-766633-20240728
  21. What a race, still suitably impressed by Candice. A spectacular mechanical, with a run to the tech zone and didnโ€™t give up. Finishing 20th at +9:31. Not the result wanted sure, but an impressive performance all considered. Hope le Comte is ok, that crash didnโ€™t look good at all when she went down!
  22. With respect, this is a baseless comparison that doesn't add to the discussion. Of the numerous posts and quotes here from articles and podcast discussions outlining the issues at hand. In particular the lack of proactive response to a number of queries over the years that were raised about the policy criteria at hand, including a lack of actual knowledge of how the discipline works. What speaks to this is the fact that people within the sport, including administrators, from within the discipline who do have an understanding. Wyn Masters, Andrew Neethling, Greg Minnaar etc ... yet nobody seems to have paid attention, until it was pushed into the open.
  23. Lots of crossover in the gravity disciplines between DH, free ride, enduro etc โ€ฆ obviously athletes need to focus in an area, that also balances out with meeting sponsorship obligations and what not in order to fund a season.
  24. Delta Park in Joburg has a good jump and flow line that's worth a couple hours of play time.
  25. Popped past a bike shop nearby me today, Linden Cycles, and happened to see one of the new Titan Valerian alloy models. A very neat alloy frame, carbon fork, full 105 and DT Swiss wheelset for 28k. Nearly made me road curious!
