  1. “My mate Chris and I – and then Adam was further back because we have to ride in twos – [were riding] and he [the motorist] went past super close,” Turner told CyclingTips. “Like, I felt it – it was millimetres. And we were in the bike lane. So it was deliberate. “And then he stops at the lights and he’s already got the passenger window down screaming ‘You ******* idiots – get off the road’, you know. Blah blah blah. “We caught up to him [the motorist] as he stopped at the lights. And then he’s taken off again swerving into the bike line and then he swerved at me coming into the bike lane and then swerved again into a vacant parking spot, so I’ve had to hit the brakes. https://cyclingtips.com/2021/08/tempers-boil-over-on-melbournes-roads-as-lockdowns-continue/?fbclid=IwAR11O18je-DYW1O_noUcGa4yGn8TiUrrYu7DnPyUVIeqQANx6vidzzDWOGY Video footage has emerged of the moment the driver tried to overtake the riders as they approached a traffic island, forcing one of the cyclists to swerve out of the way. The incident happened on June 26 and was caught on camera by one of the cyclists, who then submitted it to GoSafe, a road safety initiative in Wales, which then resulted in the motorist being charged with a driving offence. https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/driver-fined-pound300-for-careless-close-pass-on-group-of-cyclists?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook.com&fbclid=IwAR2AaOFR8NQy5Rw_si4-UYRw42L8mQvoM4xbZG6r4NI-11nDzMDUNh7Wnhs A hit-and-run driver has been jailed for just over three years after hitting and killing a teenage cyclist. Leo Meek, 22, of West Way, Moreton, hit 15-year-old Jack Jones while the cyclist was on his way to his aunt's house on the Wirral near Birkenhead, in Merseyside on April 26. Meek fled the scene after hitting Jones at 25mph over the permitted speed limit, leaving Jones with fatal head and neck injuries. https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/jail-for-hit-and-run-driver-who-got-a-taxi-home-after-killing-teenage-cyclist
  2. Maybe make contact with the folk on this thread, there may be some interest. https://www.facebook.com/groups/134361270058168/permalink/1903107483183529/
  3. SA is no longer on the red list for a lot of countries, we’ve moved onto “high rest but no longer a varient concern” Places like the UK who are still a bit backward in their reasonings, which raise more questions than answers. But that’s another discussion altogether.
  4. Neat insight here; http://www.treadmtb.co.za/expect-a-very-different-2021-absa-cape-epic/ "...... Unlike previous Cape Epics, this one will be very different. Instead of more than 600 teams (around 1300 riders) there will be a significantly pared down field of 250 teams (500 riders). The event normally has an international rider contingent of around 45-50%. This year it will be around 25%. .... "
  5. Think you may have bought this from a mate of mine, tattooist and artist, Ronald?
  6. Lesotho and Botswana in the streaming/ broadcast mix. SA gets a nut again. Supersport only, unless you VPN for the RedbullTV livestream. Good news that RedbullTV are one of the providers at least. https://m.pinkbike.com/news/how-to-watch-the-2021-mountain-bike-world-championships-from-val-di-sole.html?fbclid=IwAR1v62jM1eTKbIdM6EmfOHiZfE9WRN6gtKM_pYJbxxHlvsvzJzKQJopxMDA
  7. Therin lies the rub, being effective on digital media (social) is stronger than having a stand alone website. Especially for SMEs. There are a wealth of tools available that can leverage sales etc .... It is likely one of the strongest marketing and sales support tools available to startups as part of their business. The problem is understanding this.
  8. For sure, context stretches further. This specific case is between distributor and retailer. If I as a retailer sell that on at cost plus 10% or at 45% MU, it’s my prerogative. That’s a fundamental of free market economy. Regardless, the process is the same across business. Registered business account etc. Without that there’s no account irrespective of the terms.
  9. My Cotic X steed, runs like a beast and got my grubby paws on one of the last ones here, also one of the few with a carbon fork. Kept the build relatively retro, think ‘modern classic’. Nearly sold her a while back. Unfortunately will be putting it back on the market.
  10. Been looking at those, properly nice and well regarded. Actually would take these over and above full hydraulics, they even do four pots!
  11. Fokn *** one mate, sorry to hear.
  12. Perhaps send them a message instead hashing it out to me?
  13. As mentioned, Sprocket & Jack. Grant is your goto guy, may need to ping him a couple times though, but he is a super helpful, knowledgeable and honest person to deal with.
  14. One thing to consider is that MOQ is relative. A 8-15k opening order on something like cable ferrules and alloy bolts is a lot. On workshop spares and/or accessories not so much. On a COD account, plain stupid. Especially if only carrying niche brands where half of them (which are on the site) are being cleared because they are no longer carrying the brand. Let's compound that with restricting access to a limited time frame of approx two weeks prior to MOQ, on a COD account. Do me a favour ....
  15. Power weekend with events in Gauteng. Legends Trailseeker, Mini Munga 8hr and SOX Gauteng Enduro 1 series
  16. Believe another Saffa with an innovative local company was also instrumental in being part of the Leatt brand via the neck brace development. Mark Hopkins of cSixx. SA has an extensive and innovative cottage industry in cycling and outdoors products, severely under rated.
  17. This is class on its own, well done to you!
  18. Nope, not necessarily. An agency will broker airtime to broadcasters/streaming providers. Based on the terms and rates it depends on what the prospective client will take. Doubt SS are paying for sole rights. RedBullTV have zero involvement with World Champs.
  19. Nope, not Supersport. The UCI and host nation dictate media rights on World Champs as it's a totally separate event to the World Cup events, much like Olympics. More often than not it gives an appreciation for the level of work RBM put in.
  20. Speaking from experience. There's no set procedure as such, aside from the general business basics that apply. But that is where it starts and ends within a portion of the industry. There are plenty challenges with gate keeping attitudes, but there are also plenty smart proactive folk with the right entrepreneurial mindset. I could write a book .... ???? However, currently. Your biggest challenge now, there simply is no stock to supply you. Demand far exceeds supply, globally. Bikes, workshop, consumables, soft goods, accessories etc ... these are all severely constrained. Expect this to only stabilise in 2022, at least for the larger brands. MadMarc and Prince Albert Cycles have also given you an honest solid assessment based on relevant experience.
  21. Don't see anything wrong with the article? Pretty straight forward. "But the Fire Department already sees faulty after-market batteries as a problem, Flynn told the Daily News. Replacements, and not the batteries that originally come with scooters, are usually the ones to catch fire, he explained. “The most important thing to do is to stick with the manufacturer’s recommended batteries,”
  22. I think that was the point Matthieu was making in his post.
  23. 100% ... which just like those, spreads easily in a stage environment. So pretty NB to decrease medical load and risk. Plus it may mean general hygiene is enforced more for 'that guy' in their dusty, sweaty, ballsack bibs and dirt in the dining hall.
  24. Not entirely true. We've caught up significantly since the initial gumpf and the vaccine data put us ahead of many other nations sitting 12th-15th globally, about a month ago (unfortunately I don't have the graph on hand). Recently we were averaging just over 150k vaccinations daily with the rate going up. Following Sugan Naidoo on Twitter and the last update he posted on rate of vaccination was averaging 200k odd. Since supply chain has now been secured we should expect to see that increase even further. For events, especially tourism based events this is important, including those of us wishing to take part. There was a thread pertinent to this issue with a load of well sourced information, but it got hammer and sickled under a delete button.
  25. Hmm, not ideal. Besides the uncertainty in the repair especially given that the crack runs on the crease line any resale value is severely undermined.
