I have a XC1 carbon HT, not that I am a pro, just your average weekend warrior but I think that the bike and geometry is great. I bought the frame on special a couple of years back and have built it up to a very light racing machine (10KG for a large frame)

damn... time to start cycling from Hillcrest to Umhlanga... way to work will be easy but ride home will be interesting.

if you have some dollars to spend then Assos, otherwise go with Giordana or Santini ( 2 top brand but not as expensive). Try get them from CRC ship it to someone in the UK returning or travelling to SA.

Don't really need a tool (pliers) to remove the power link, but it sure does make it easier. If you keep your chain clean and dont drench it in lube every ride, they should be ok to it apart by hand... with a bit of swearing :-)

DS is awesome for comfort etc. I have a carbon Volcan 26HT that I have upgraded a fair amount, which is now super light running 2X9. Tried ride all bikes and see what suits your needs the best blended with the opinions that you get from here. Good Luck

I love this forum :-) the debate between 26 and 26 and now the new 27.5 contest is exactly like who has the biggest c0ck... Hahaha, ride what you have and ride it like you stole it, weather it is a 40K 26 carbon hardtail or a 5K dual sus steel frame 29. I know of a few local township guys that will put most riders to shame on 12inch bmx....

how often do you take off and clean your chain. I have been told not to dip it into any degreasers as it removes the lubrication inside the pins. Thoughts on that? now days I just give it a good scrub and that's pretty much it.

the new 910XT is awesome. However, I just got my quick release mounting kit today and will be using my edge 500 for running now as well, will be a bit bulky this is ok as I am not looking for style points.

you right, we dont have the Epic, but we have the World Cup and World Champ next year... but it boils to everyone opinion :-)
