  1. You have a page ref, I missed that...
  2. I don't think so, but I see what you did there. I think its the cheating thing that makes it different. To ride expensive bikes and not very fast, but enjoying it is okay, no?At least it isn't cheating . I cannot speak for others, but substance abuse is on another level imo.
  3. Amateurs that go to such levels are %$^(*(%£ pathetic...
  4. Not as simple, ALL of the above affects handling and steering etc. I am no authority on the matter, but this might shed some light : http://www.cyclingtips.com.au/2011/02/the-geometry-of-bike-handling/ There is a optimal range for all of the above, and moving saddle back is often a good thing (up to a point), but having to compensate with a shorter stem, will affect handling in a big way. All of this is different for MTB's of course.
  5. Deep Section - (Matt?) I'll try and swing by...you guys build beautiful bikes...
  6. Long shot I know... I need a lift form Hermanus to Swellendam on race day and possibly back after the ride. Any Hermnaus people going? Or any people form elsewhere basing themselves in hermnaus for the weekend? Thanks
  7. I suggest the OP goes here : http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=17412 101 pages of exactly what he is looking for

    TIME ZXRS

I have always liked the time frame, but their sizing is very strange - They have veeerrrryyyy long top tubes. A size Medium has an effective 56cm tt? So little people will struggle to fit on a Time, or end up fitting a 6-7cm stem...I think that will affect how it rides. Do you have geometry for this? I looks pretty good though...
  9. Amazing...
  10. Sorry but this made me think of Churchills quote, about the ugly lady when he was drunk. In a few years time we will all be old and slow on the bike, but you will still spell like a chop...
  11. Not in my experience (maybe I have only had bad luck). I wrote off 2 Pro3's in the last fortnight. Picking up Gatorskin later today... I have found them pretty prone to punctures, but they do roll well. GP4000 seems to fit the bill for the OP - they are pretty puncture resistant, but roll very well indeed
  12. KASK helmets are much better than Giro in my opinion - I'd go for the K50.
  13. Thule, expensive but undoubtedly the best http://www.thule.com/fitguide/default.aspx?Language=en&Market=ZA

  15. SLX - meh XT - XTR - If cash is no object Just to give you a real life example of what I am talking about. I recently smashed an TR derailleur against a rock. Carbon age broken, pulley in th ebush and the derailleur bent, so written off. Replacement came to the following : 2012 XT shadow - £55 2012 XTR shadow - £165 XT does the job perfectly well enough at a third of the price.
  16. Head to the Dolomites - Passo Giau Marmaloda , Sella Ronda, Passo Duran - some of the best riding you could imagine. Base yourself in Bormio and you rode Passo Stelvio, Passo Gavia and Mortirolo Italy is where you should spend a fair bit of time, there are alos hundreds of Granfondo's on at the moment...
  17. PM the dude who posted about them - he sells them...
  18. Yes, Froome is there. I hate to say it, but Wiggins is looking very sharp. It would take a hell of a ride from Evans to beat him. SKY's prep is very clinical and focused, similar to USPS back in the day...Suppose that is what it takes these days. How I miss those days where everyone just raced the cr@p out of each other.
  19. Think this has been asked previously, but aruguably the best known bike shop is Wolfi's - http://www.wbs.ae/
  20. Yes, because someone else mentioned Stelvio reminds them of AdH.
  21. AdH is all of 15km with 18 switchbacks, the Passo dello Stelvio is 22,3km with 46 swithcbacks - sure I have all the Garmin info somewhere. Passo dello Stelvio is also the second highest tar road in Europe, and peaks at about 2650m. The AdH finish is at 1860. Are they climbing it form that side GoG - the Swiss side?
  22. I can see big blister on the calf...
  23. From my experience 2nd hand is usually about 50% of new, and then increase based on condition. It is a buyers market...
  24. No need to look any further...very few wheels can compete at the price.
