You could just ride in the side of the road till you hit the turn off for the Nek. There is a walk path, with some lumps and jumps, on the left hand side of the road most of the way along. Was used as part of a race there last year.

Take some warm clothes, it gets pretty cold there in the evening and if you running a relay with other team members you will feel it while you are waiting around. Previous years late hour rides were powered by OB's

I think you should maybe call the chaps involved with organising the MTB entry and discuss the problem with them. A rant session in the press is just going to cause us to lose another MTB spot (although a smelly one at this point) I see the MTB offering at Northerns as a small sideline and not on the big priorty list for the operators of the farm. Call the farm itself and discuss it with them or just vote with your wallet and go somewhere else.

Aren't we, as mountain bikers, guests on the farm? Dont think a petition or a rant session is the best way to get resolve in this situation.

So what range of kit do you have the rights to distribution for in SA?

Get the Thule rack - seems to be put together a bit better than others. I bought one about four months back as I sold the other car. Works perfectly for my new sedan, the girlies polo and my kombi. There is one for three bikes and then the is an american spec one for two bikes (all black in colour with adujstable locking pins) I got the latter on advice from the chap at thule and haven't had any issues. The have a fitting sheet for it to tell you which pin position is best for your car.

Does any one know of any swim specific stores or a store that sells decent fins and snorkels for training in the fourways area. Sportsmans and the like dont seem have anything in stock.

Swear by it and convert almost everybody that forgets their general brands at home. Dont seem to have that sweaty sticky feeling like with other brands !

Go for both. Get a decent road bike and the mountain bike. There are more and more off road Tri's and Duathlons on the calendar so at least this way you will have a good choice of options.

Thanks for a great event. I enjoyed it - dont think the legs did though. Not such and easy course after hitting those hills 8 times in a row. Will be back next year but with a few other people. Course was too tough for a solo stint without the rest. Vibe was good and I think next year will be better. I think though you should move some of the transition area up to the first climb so we can setup our stops with a view of the racing. Thanks to the marshals as well that were constantly fixing the drop off and the incline just after it Well done !
