  1. After a weeks worth of training this was a bit of a suffer fest. Just no power in the legs, should have learn't from the last race I did out there and do a bit of a taper. Was very happy to finish though and it was an awesome day out ! Those climbs with the kopie rocks were made but had a blast hoofing it down the steep decent. Hands were a bit buggered so just did a Minnaar and just gave it - good fun
  2. I'm keen. Sounds like cycle clubs for different areas could organise a mass public ride. Short distance to get "the non cyclist" type involved to - maybe they will see the light!
  3. Awesome ! Any news of the chuffs that stole your other bike?
  4. I think we need to support the folk that support our activities - so hopefully teak will sort the service out !
  5. It is sad - They've got awesome trails and what used to be great food and service. Was there on saturday and had pretty much the same story. we sat up at the restaurant level though with not much difference. Ordered a breakfast and got my scrambled eggs and mince (cold) with added plastic tub of butter and jam right in the middle of the egg - yummy I like processed plastic in my eggs! Think its just down to the training. really awesome place but need to jack it up a little !
  6. I was wondering while voting why it isn't all electronic with a paper back up should you need a re-count. My ID wasn't scanned, just my info ticked off on a scruffy piece of paper. What happens if the paper goes missing or a chap spills his tea on it ? How to they recon the votes against voters then ? mmmm... at least we try !
  7. Has ABSA been notified ? I used to work with one of the big banks and they take these things seriously. They will put their fraud division onto the account to watch for movements. Maybe they'll catch the idiot trying to withdraw something.
  8. Well done to everyone ! You are all awesome people !
  9. Why dont you check your local bike store with regards to putting on a front fork for you to make your current bike a bit more useable. The V brake can be made to work well. I put those Tri Block pads on my old bike that I keep around and it stops just as well as most bikes with disc's
  10. After not being there for a while we went on saturday and yep it is really good. We took a few newbies with us and we all had a blast ! The floating bridge is good entertainment ! Only downside is that breakfast ends at 11:30
  11. I was in Belgium last year and they were doing a project to get cars off the streets and people onto bikes, buses, trams and trains. If you were a local registered tax payer and signed up to this scheme then they'd give you one of these bikes (painted in bright yellow to match the transport authority colours.) Makes you think about our transport "solution" !
  12. Nice one -good to see there are still some good folk left !
  13. Looks like you had an awesome ride, stunning scenery !
  14. Awesome ! We want bike lanes. Gonna go burn some tyres !
  15. Its a good idea just to ignore it to keep your sanity, hell I try and practise this, but I would love to know how many "When We's" (Rhodesians) followed the same thought pattern
  16. Disturbing Is there a way to put a interactive map up where all these hijackings can be logged. There must be a trend for certain areas at certain times. We can also log accidents to follow trends in high risk areas. Are we going to be having to do rides with security following us on dirt bikes !
  17. Sounds like he was a bit of a tool, some mothers have them. Sure you'll see him out again, ask him whats on his Ipod !
  18. Northcliff cycles used to do a little race every tuesday at the park and ride area by the dome. You dont have to race and can go at your own pace. Give them a call to see if its still on.
  19. mmmm.... not a flame but I think you be better off worrying about you not knowing whats in your near vacinity when you're out and about on the road in general, and in terms of an unspoken rule - I think it should be that of a friendly rider. You should have said a howsit as you passed !! The other rider should have not been so close though without getting some sort of acknowledgment. I dont know about you but on the road or trail I use other riders for pacing and always keep an eye on who I've passed and the gap. Glad you didn't dump the bike though
  20. If we do William Nicol I'm in too - doesn't seem tooo much of a critical mass though
