  1. My thoughts as well and probably the only reason i wouldn't pull the trigger on a set.
  2. Tyrewiz is almost double the price - But your point is the first thing I thought of - Wonder how long it would be until a rock or stone claps the thing on the trails.
  3. Well to be honest the Trainer didn't completely drain the UPS - Kickr was connected probably for 1 hr 10 min and it was still running when I finished and disconnected it - I then switched on my WiFi router and about 10 - 15 minutes later the UPS started beeping faster which means it about to shut down and then the power came on.
  4. Okay so i know this is an old thread but on topic Current round of load-shedding for my area right over my ID training time in the afternoon I bought a UA60 Kstar UPS (spec can be found here https://www.kstar.com/LineInteractiveUPS/10162.jhtml) some months back basically to run my WiFi during load-shedding and wanted to know if it would run my Kickr for an hour using TR app off my iPhone - I go searching Google, because I'm a dumbass on all things electrical especially calculations and i get brought onto this thread. The long and short of it i got 1 hr 20 min before the UPS shut down - Maybe this info helps answer if a 600 ronds UPS will run a Kickr trainer
  5. A Takealot advert cam across my FB page for the Airspy Tire Pressure gadget thingamabob. Crazy price for a pair, but is suppose that's normal locally - I went onto their (SKS Germany) website and have some pretty cool kit - also read the review found here. Price online in Germany would be half the local price https://nsmb.com/articles/sks-airspy-review/ Was wondering if anyone on here had pulled the trigger on a set and had an opinion. I think it would be a good way in getting your tire pressure on point before each ride, as well as once a puncture is fixed on the trail, we normally just bomb it to the max and carry on riding and sort it out once back home - Now on the trail one could bomb and adjust the pressure properly. comments ?

    Sports Buddy

This came up on my FB Feed - any one purchased one ? - Opinions ? https://sportsbuddy.tech/ In todays circumstances i'm really keen to pull the trigger on this one - 1600 odd ronds for the device and 124 ronds/month - seems a small price to pay for your safety when and if riding alone. I'm thinking it could be used anywhere as a panic button even at home or while driving. Wonder if it would work if you say riding MTB at a bike park miles from the parking area in the bush and you needed them - wonder if they would find you
  7. Okay so I thought I'd give some feedback - It worked perfect 👌 I pulled the trigger on the POLAR H10 thanks @Frosty for that bit of advice - I did some reading up and it seems POLAR at the price was a far better option than the GARMIN - PRO. Price in store = R1 799.99 25% off gear - R 449.98 Existing voucher i had - R 250.00 Disco miles - R 646.00 total paid in R 453.92 I could have got another 64 ronds off if i applied the miles discount of 10%. So the clawback = R 1 345.98 Thanks once again for the help & advice, much appreciated 🤙
  8. has the bidding opened yet ? I'll bid R 1.00 and a picture of my bike on the couch
  9. Well they first tried to tell me they would send it in and see what the importer says blah blah blah I gave them a hard time then they said i would need to pay in blah blah blah when i asked how much they couldn't tell me, they eventually gave me a new one to get me out the shop cause i was starting to cause a scene in front of other customers the 2nd time they were happy to just replace it - maybe the remembered me from the 1st time. I recently wanted a power saddle for my IDT and got the Ryder one for 800 ronds, think the Spez is now over 2K. I found the Ryder quality same if not better and it is far more comfortable.
  10. Thanks I see your point - like I said in my OP the Garmin price is crazy. I think I'll go with your suggestion it only needs to work with my Garmin 520 / Zwift & TR
  11. I had 2 Spez power saddles replaced under warranty they both started creaking after 3 months on a MTB. Check where the rails mount into the seat frame, there should not be any movement or play - If there is you can try injecting some silicone into the joints.
  12. Thanks guys - You all contributed to my new level of Disco education. As soon as this gout attack leaves my foot and I can walk, I be visiting SWH to claw back some ronds from vitality
  13. I already have a R 250.00 voucher - I got it a few weeks back for R 15.00 it expires 4th march
  14. Okay so its starting to stick now I have no banking products other than the CC On gear i generate the Voucher 25% on R 2 000.00 = R 500.00 My current voucher = R 250.00 Current miles 6150 generate an instore payment voucher = R 615.00 So - HRM @ R 2 499.00 - R 500.00 - R 250.00 - R 615.00 = R 1 134.00 at the till Correct ?
  15. Have not ridden ORT for a while now, but from all the rain we had in the last weeks i'm sure its a mud fest, and they no longer managed so probably completely overgrown by now. Modders - same thing completely over grown, not worth the effort. I would try Red Barn or Northern Farms
  16. So after all my rants about Vitality scam not being worth the effort and money I am in a position to put it to the test - But i need one of you Disco Fundi's to give me a dumbdown explanation of how it works - I just spent over an hour reading all their mumbo jumbo trying to understand how it works, but naaa nothing nada is sticking. I need a new Garmin HRM strap So i'm going to try get the Garmin - Pro HRM from Sportsmans for R 2499.00 (Jussie that's crazy) its marked as a "Vitality Sports Gear benefit" I'm on diamond On the App it says under Sport Gear I get 25% discount If I tap the Devices tab its says I get 50% off Fitness devices So which discount voucher do i use ? Is the HRM strap Gear or is it a Device ? Have R 6 000.00 spend limit. So I assume i then tap view and it produces a voucher that says x% off my spend allowance which i show the till lady and i get the discount - correct ? I also have a 250 ronds voucher from active rewards - Can I use this for further discount on the same transaction ? Or can I only use one or the other ? Helping me claw back some money from this scam would really be appreciated.
  17. I been ridding Modderfontein (Taroko Trails) since the start many years back I rode the red route yesterday Sun 23rd - and was really shocked at the condition and lack of trail maintenance. Even considering the recent rains and storms, ruts that have appeared over a year back have now become complete washed out dongas which are un-rideable. The grass has not been cut for so long that most of the single tracks are completely covered, you cannot see where you are going. in a lot of sections the grass and bush are higher than your handlebars - the only reason we got through is because we been riding there enough to have an idea of where the trail goes. Trees that got blown over by wind over 18 months back are still laying across the trails - no attempt has been made to clear them. We did come across a grass cutting team of 5 or 6 guys with weed eaters, but clearly they are under staffed and under tooled, and seem to be fighting a losing battle. I'm all for the un manicured trails, muddy sections, a few natural ruts and waterlogged sections, they make riding more interesting - But what i saw yesterday was beyond insane. To top it all they increased their day entry to 60 ronds and annual pass to over 1400 ronds. Taroko management need toget their act together - There is clearly no trail management in place.
  18. Was my thought as well 🧐 Maybe the Taxi driver used to own a Silverback and had a warranty claim rejected 😁 Jokes aside though welcome to being a ZA roadie and yes Taxi's killing cyclists is a thing here.
  19. Go see Solomons Woodmead - was there the other day and they had a rack of older forks taken off brand new bikes, i'm sure there were 26er and 27.5er forks on the rack Speak to Aghtar
  20. Thanx I'm sure the X7 will work just as good - have pm'd you
  21. Yep - You need to bypass those reeds after the rains we been having. Either the mud and holes will get you or the snakes hunting frogs in summer.
  22. Anyone in JHB got a 10 spd SRAM X9 or XO shifter for a 1 X 10 conversion I'm doing - Willing to pay.
  23. Just shutup and take my money !!
  24. You seriously need to prepare for it, your whole life changes, you have to re-invent your relationship with your spouse. What you had before the kids came along is gone never to return. I know couples who got divorced after their kids left home, they couldn't put up with each other. Maybe eBikes will save marriages 🤣
  25. In all the years i been riding my wife has ridden like twice, the last time was at Northern Farms many years back- When we got home she said "that's it I'm done, I cannot do this sport, its just to much suffering for me" Fast Forward to last week - I pulled out the old SCOTT 26er 3 X 9 she rode at NF washed it off, i was gonna donate it and then thought mmmmm maybe an ebike project will get her back in the saddle, nothing serious, just get out and do 25 or 30 k's at modders or NF a few times a month. Our kids are out the house and we sit and stare at each other like 2 meerkats, wondering WTF happened to our lives, what do we do now. So i be looking at the midmount or rear hub motor - upgrade it to 1 X 10, I already have an X9 type 2 Rd laying in the spares box next to a set of X7 brakes. EBikes technology is getting lot of people out there that wouldn't normally be on the trails, which is good - more riders make it safer and more riders means new trails will open, win win for everone.
