  1. At least there will be no wind .... first time you will hear of that in Cape Town.
  2. haha perhaps not knowing that would have been better! That's a R1000 towards a weekend away with the gf - sidekick race's power meter
  3. my initial reaction was the same - race at the waterfront - how cool. Then I looked at the course and realized I would be paying R1000 to run 4 circles where I train 80% of the time. I might still change my mind though
  4. Is it a limited medal event? Thats a huge problem if it wasnt
  5. 1h48 for me
  6. Like when I bought your carrier. It was a good price and I knew wouldn't be available long. I paid and came straight after work .. granted you live 300m down the road
  7. Park behind the PnP in Rondebosch ... close to the start but a little walk jog from the end
  8. It's the first one that came to mind as its boldly written on the bike. Ive owned two treks, both low end and both had hand made It will not be considered a deceptive practice for a marketer to make an unqualified U.S. origin claim if, at the time it makes the claim, the marketer possesses and relies upon competent and reliable evidence that: (1) U.S. manufacturing costs constitute 75% of the manufacturing costs for the product; and (2) the product was last substantially transformed in the United States.[2] Easy to do when the manufacturing costs are low. This is applicable to the "Made in USA" slogan not Trek bikes per say
  9. There is built and manufactured. The parts get made in China but assembly in said country - hence Trek is hand built in the USA. Im not sure of the percentage but a certain amount needs to be done in said country to say its Italian or USA built/made. There is a dedicated thread to Chinese carbon frame but that is not the issue being discussed. Many hubbers have unbranded Chinese frames but this issue it about fraud and deception from someone that should be trusted
  10. Andrew by your calm and well written responses these guys never stood a chance ... you make a number of good points and I hope this is the catalyst for sorting them and others who try similar scams out. Best of luck!
  11. Like cars that cost more than houses ... gotta keep up with the Jones' Doubt most of us ride at a level that justifies those machines but its their money and I respect how they want to spend it if they have it. Like the car example I don't get why people would spend a quarter of their salaries on a car they spend a few hours a week in.
  12. Ahh Monday ... that b1tch. I also know her! Tone is hard to pick up - he came across as quite genuine about trying to help (be passionate) people get into the sport and not be taken advantage of. Hope that was his intention.
  13. Touche Only saw it now but still didn't come across as flaming a bike shop as he did mention a sales person making a hard sale to someone who was reluctant. The reason I say this is my girlfriend wanted a road bike for Argus and visited a number of stores and had the same issue. Sales people pushing product really hard and not even taking the time of day to listen to what her needs were ect. She ended up buying a great bike from The Crow (hubber)! Who I was told was extremely helpful throughout the process, making sure the bike fitted ect before just 'selling' it on.
  14. Why so grumpy. He didn't mention a particular shop but rather a situation he oversaw and one many of us have seen before or experienced where a sale get 'forced' or person get put under pressure. He didn't interrupt the sales person? Unless I missed something. He has no vested interest other than to see someone get involved and start riding and enjoying the sport, which, was the point I think he was trying to make. If you went into Cajees and saw someone being sold the wrong size bike at double the value it is worth because the salesman was eager to get his comm - would that unsettle you or would you say he was doing a good job?
  15. There is also BMC in Salt River

    Cricket......

    Does a walka count?
  17. Thats what I thought ... that would be a rude way to find out
  18. JGR

    Cricket......

I have said it many times but I think he is one of the worst sportsman out there .. never plays the game in the spirit its meant to even in the professional era
  19. In your line of work if he had crushed and hurt himself and damaged the bike and it was insured for x as a Pina what would the consequences be? Would he be suspected of fraud for insuring a fake as the real thing?
