  1. You were on the Bianchi, right? I was kinda sucking your wheel and helping a little on your "solo" effort back to the group. Also couln't hold the wheel after coming back to the group and cycled to the end in the 7 man group to finish at 2h33. I was in the blue i-Intelligence kit ont he Spez.

    My New Hero

If the little one in front goes over the bars, I think the other one on the trailer is in for some major airtime
  3. Here is a video clip of the complaint. http://vimeo.com/36287895 Pretty funny if you're a cyclist with a sense of humour.
  4. Exactly - it's all natrual so it must be good for you!
  5. Mmm - nice frame!
  6. In similar conditions add ten minutes to Dischem time - that's what my results tell me for sub three in both. T's & C;s apply.
  7. Ja, been in VA the last few years, but no license yet this year so in A. Just wondering whether I should bother with a license as I'm not going to be contesting the sprint in VA and some of the accelerations hurt. Is A more steady or the guys also putting in attacks?
  8. Which the better group to try and get the best time - VA or A?
  9. Cool, thanks for the PM. I'll give him a bash.
  10. mini Hijack Are there any decent independent bike mechanics operating in the Northern suburbs of JHB? Collection and delivery a bonus, but looking ofr someone who knows his stuff and is relaible.
  11. Nice, you are very, very convenietly located for me. I'm going to bring one or two of my bikes around. If the service is good - you will have my business forever, if not - I'll be looking for another LBS again. C U Soon
  12. I'm not at all involved with the race and I haven't ridden it, yet, but let's think about it differently. According to some on this thread and other many others, it has become the no. 1 event in its class globally. Does it make sense therefore that every South African MTB'er gets to ride it and that it should be affordable to all? As a premier event, it derserves to be exclusive and the organisers deserve to get a return for their efforts. Well done to KV for creating the concept and establising a "world-class" event. Better than CSA have managed to do. They don't, however, deserve to automatically get our cash and we have the right to vote...with our feet. If there are better and more affordable events, then the Epic will face competition and have to adjust accordingly, but it may survive on reputation alone for a while.
  13. I can't be sure, but does GTC not have a setting that you can change in the software?
  14. If you type in each one of the names into the search on the Cyclelab seeding, you can see their index and all the races that are used in the calculation (just click on their name after searching). I think they take the best three to calculate the seeding. Good luck
  15. I think it's like what Tiny K was saying. Take cadence for example - Garmin has a setting to ignore or include zeros in the average. You might not be stopped, but you could be free-wheeling, so the averages are different depending on the different settings.
  16. Really - surely you mean after it has calved (i.e. given birth)?
  17. I definitely don't want to get into a debate about this and you've made this point before on other threads. There is no disputing that roads need maintenance, and that this maintenance needs to be funded. The point is two-fold: 1) Are we not already paying taxes and fuel levies to fund this? 2) Is is right to take existing, paid-for infrastructure, upgrade it and then toll everyone for using it. New roads can be funded by tolls, but then there has to be an alternative for those unwilling or unable to pay the tolls. It's not right to remove the alternative.
  18. Is this confirmed? If so, regardless of gender, that is one extremely impressive ride. To start in HH and ride away from her group and any other group she would have caught, work her way through all the traffic along the route and finish with a faster time than the winning time of every group after A. How many Hubbers could TT the route through the traffic faster than that? Ps. Luckily I finished faster, so I wasn't "Chicked", but still not sure about this.
  19. Exactly, often happens with D group and I know of a faster lady time on a mixed tandem in #, but HH more than 20 minutes faster than the rest of her group - not likely.
  20. I would think hard training within 10 days of the race will do more harm than good. Apparently what you do now counts in three weeks time. Also, beware of that diet of yours - surely going to weaken you and your immune system.
  21. This is soooo cool. Everyone should join so that we can some competition going.

    Cricket......

    Mmm, interesting!
  23. +1 My favorite "long" route (although, you don't have to include Sterkies). Otherwise, flatter - out via Ontdekkers and then around the game reserve and back via Randfontein. Doing this one on Sunday.

    Specialized Tyres

Got similar tyres with my Epic - they suck as tubeless. Go Conti or Crossmark(not as much grip as conti though) and don't look back. No experience with Specialized UST tyres.
