  1. I hope they sorted this Black guy (edited) out right where they caught him. I cannot see what would motivate me to get back on a bicycle.Chunky2007-03-18 03:16:48
  2. And Another one ...... http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/News/0,9294,2-7-1442_2085294,00.html Johannesburg - A cyclist was killed in a collision with a minibus taxi in Alberton on Saturday afternoon, Ekhurhuleni Metro Police said. Inspector Khobeli Mokheseng said that witnesses said the cyclist had crossed the intersection of Swartkoppies and Meredy road unsafely. However, the taxi driver, who was alone in his Toyota HiAce, ran away from the scene of the accident. He was caught two blocks away by members of the public. The cyclist's name has not been released, said Mokheseng. Chunky2007-03-17 13:19:14
  3. Mintsauce I understand what you are saying. All I am saying is that they are making a bigger thing of it than what it actually is. These type of events are there for the crowd. I know they want to see proper racing but its normal at 6 day races etc to put on a show. In these cases its normaly the locals who get to be the heroes for the day. Guys like Risi are real proffesionals. It would not take any effort for them to lap the SA team 10 times if they wanted to. But that is not what the crowd would like to see. Who would ever come back if the SA team finished the madison in 5th place a few laps down. These guys know that and give the crowd a show. Unfortunately whenever ther is money involved there will be some sort of corruption. But Cmon, is selling a madison at the tri nations actually that bad or are we over reacting a bit. And to top it off, there is actually no proof that they did pay for the race, its all just speculation now isnt it. Stupid comments made by a guy behind an alias name. Sure, it has happened before and its going to happen again. Trial by media again by the looks of it Chunky2007-03-17 03:35:44
  4. Who cares what they did, as long as the spectators enjoyed it. It was a friendly International track event. Are the spectators going to stop going to 6 day racing because it happens there too. Cmon guys, this is getting a bit petty.
  5. Hmmmmmm, seems I am talking sh*t again..... This was in fact not the case. I got the wrong idea of what actually happened. Sorry Rob was not having a go at you personally, was just trying to get the point across about how the racing sometimes ends up. I actually heard this not from David but from one of the other guys who were with you in Langkawi. My Appologies.
  6. What obviously wasnt rigged was Morne Blignauts time in the 200 meters. 10.59 is super fast in Cape Town. The world cup in Cape town didnt even see that time by the fastest qualifier, I think he only managed 10.68 Morne should be able to win B worlds hands down in the sprint and Kierin.
  7. Crazy German you are spot on. Had Risi and Marwuli wanted to ride away, they could have done it on lap one. But who would want to see the SA team chasing for 40km three laps down. They are proffesionals and know what the crowds want to see. Anyway who cares. As long as the spectators enjoyed it at the time. R8500 still seems a very hefty packet to pay for a madison at Bellville with one good team there.
  8. Was rumoured after 96 Atlanta games that Sylvio Martinello paid 1 million Dollars for Points race victory. Not sure how accurate the amount is but every rider at the worlds cups etc was talking about it. 6 Day racing is laden with pay offs. Norally what happens is you fall into a certain group. Three groups are allocated. You cant really move out of your group. 1st to 4th then 5th to 8th and 9th to 12th. On some occasions the leaders will come to you and say ok team so and so, its your night to take a lap. All that means is the bunch will not chase extra hard for the few laps grace you are given. You still need to be able to ride away from the group that is riding tempo at 55kmh. Not so easy hey !!! When I went to Europe the first year and was racing in England, I was making more money by loosing than winning. I got there a month or so into their season and could no way win the series. I did however manage to make the final of the sprint all the time. The norm was to take the 2nd place prize money and the first place prize money. Added to that the other riders sponsor would pay an additional amount equal to the winning money. In Japan, big steps are taken to avoid riders fixing the racing. You are not even allowed to communicate with other riders on the day of big races. No wearing of watches or any jewelery as it could be a sign. Guys even have to have similar looking bikes all the same colour. It will always happen. One year in the Tour de Langkawi it was the downfall of the South African team. Robert Hunter with Mapei US Dollars paid the South African team to chase down David George. It actually resulted in no South African winning the tour that year and Tom Danielson went on to win the tour. Teams who are out of the running and have made no money during the big tours normaly offer their 'services' to other teams in exchange for mullas. He he. I have even heard of guys paying to win medals at SA champs. What a joke. If someone needs to pay to win a SA medal that I think is pathetic.
  9. Was rigged for sure. Just about every Tri nations or Three day event is rigged to a point. Not sure I would pay R8500 to win a tri nations madison though. Realistically Risi and Marwuli could have lapped them ten times if they wanted to. Besides, I was told by another member of the team that they paid for it. So this story is not Bullsh*t. Pitty Garth didnt know about it, I would also be a bit p'eed off.
  10. Heres a clue: Legal is 50%......above that isnt. Colonel.... That was a bullsh*t story. It never happened at all.
  11. If I look at the results it looks liek a totally different story. David was the top SA rider. It took a handfull of Barloworld riders to take care of one lone CSC rider. David still managed to place at Top South African. I agree with him, had the stage gone one extra lap that day I think there would have been a totally different story. TBL were almost all blown out from what I was told. David and Robert need to sort their sh*t out. I know both of them are top class riders. Robert has ridden in the Tour sure, but Davids results are also not to shabby. Medals at World Championships Medals at Commonwealth games Winner in Lankawi Multiple SA champ Cant just write that off can you. Every time they end up at worlds together David seems to do the business. Imagine the 2 could work together
  12. DG was supposed to ride with Harmony but looks liek that may be off. The sponsor wanted him to commit to a full year with the team and move to JHB. Problem is DG needs to be in Europe and DG is very expensive !!!!!
  13. They crap... Malcolm Has broken his. Daryl broke his in Lankawi. I have seen 2 break in front of me. Cheap sh*t. So many broken and its only Feb ?
  14. Groot Lem I just picked up the article on the CSA website last night. What is going on there. Isnt Colin Hoffman the guy that made so much sh*t for me too? Seems like more of the sports politics make the headlines than the sport itself.
  15. http://www.cyclingsa.com/article_2007-2-17.html I Might loose my contract (So be it) My name is Colin Hoffmann. I've been involved with cycling for the better part of 20 years. In other words, the same regime has been involved in a certain sence. I, unfortunately know what's going on. You can count yourself lucky I'm not involved with a daily newspaper anymore. Wilhelm de Swardt has got nothing to write what I know. Mr. Whittaker: I am disgusted in what you're doing. (I've had a meeting with you in you're offices, if I'm not mistaken. You made certain promises. Nothing happened after that). The promises that you made as the president, what happened? I'm still waiting? Sylvia Dale (there's no one better doing the job she's doing at this stage. How is it possible that you "Mr. President" can take her to defend herself for what she's doing?) I believe you took her to a "court case"? If I was in her shoes, mr. Whittaker, I would've taken you to the cleaners. She's the only one that can organise South African Cycling. Lawrence Whittaker, your sidekick, David Bellairs, plus Carinus Lemmer: I'd like to know how you can explain yourself. Lawrence, you're suppossed to be a highly expected person involved with a highly expected company as in Harold Gie? One of the elder. Do they know what they're getting involved in because of you're involvement in cycling? I hope not. Between yourself and David you've worked out Gottie. Am I right to summise that you, David, Carinus are going the "right" way because of mass-participation? I've had a meeting with you in your offices (if i'm not mistaken) and since then you as the president of Cycling South Africa (CSA) told me you will help me in certain respects. Up to this point you've done nothing to help me to get the CSA website on the road. And I'm trying to stay at the head of the field. What have you've done mr. Whittaker? Up to this point, absolutely nothing. In the meantime you've appointed a crimenal Rastafarian (Carinus Lemmer) as you're COO? (You know what I'm talking about). I 've got no problem with Carinus as a person. As a Rastafarian he is entitled to entertain himself and everyone that's involved with him. But can/will he be able to secure a sponsor when he rock up as a Rastafarian without shoes? I don't think so! The next question? How is it possible that Carinus can't give us a business plan regarding his job? He's waiting foir you as pres. and David as vice since he's been appointed as the COO to give him direction. I've got a funny feeling that you (David Bellairs + Lawrence Whittaker and your new mate, Carinus Lemmer) are going for the final take-over. Maybe before June. Why don't you take your shoes and go! David, this is yours to take over. I've seen you running in and out at Media24! Where did you go to? Sixth or Seventh floor? Kind regards, Boys, Colin
  16. How is the Car ?
  17. Thats how some vacines work. Have you ever taken a flu vacine, because that is a modified strain of the virus injected into you to build resistance.

    .

These teams are selected by performances on the day at the selection meeting. The riders selected must have somehow impressed the selectors. There are always going to be selections that not everyone is happy about. The only way myself and a few others ever made the team was by winning the selection meeting. I even won the only 2 sprint events in one particular year and still never made the team. Take it on the chin and come back stronger next year and prove them wrong. Its half the fun.
  19. Firstly Grapkas, OB is not a friend of mine. I wasnt aware of what he had done in the race. i was just commenting as to why everyone has to jump to conclusions all the time. Sure, If he did mess the race up for the other then he should be disciplined.
  20. Cruxpearl, sure I dont think he should have gotten involved with the race, but you also shouldnt make remarks like like. You say he cannot keep it clean now. As far as I know he has been tested at just about all the races and he hasn't had a problem yet. So to say he can keep it clean now is a bit harsh. Sounds to me like there are some sour grapes. Perhaps its because you find it difficult to finish with the man?
  21. Did he race elite or vet?
