  1. Earlier I suggested yoyu consider a 650b. Read this article and her preferences to 27.5inch. This is written by a female procyclist, whose height is similar to yours. http://www.cyclingne...tt-scale-700-rc
  2. Don't worry Spinnekop, this won't affect bike shops and what you can order online. This refers to "Services" not "goods". The online bike shops are safe on this one as they supply goods. VAT is paid on goods upon entry into SA. SARS gets their money then. VAT obviously cannot be paid on services in this manner. The only online service that I can think of is the downloading of software and music etc. As mentioned previously, this will be difficult to police. In fact, VAT law currently requires you to make a declaration to SARS everytime you purchase an online service and pay the required VAT over. I have never heard of anyone actually doing this.
  3. With all the comments on this shop moving and what was FPC etc etc. Where exactly is it now? I am going to be in Hatfield at the end of the month and would like to take a look.
  4. Many people have said that short people are not suited to 29ers. Before buying, why not consider a 650b as well. Give them both a try and see which is better. Scott and others are bringing nice 650b ranges for 2014. Some are already in the shops.
  5. Another Hubber, who shall remain nameless, was contacted by a lawer after he voiced his dislike of a particular bike shop.
  6. Sometimes you just don't want somebody you dislike to get the benefit of your money, no matter what the saving. What do they say "feeding the troll" or something to that effect. I refuse to buy LG products. I would rather pay more for a lower speced product than support them (I had terrible service from them in the past and refused to ever pass money over to them).
  7. I came across a Hubber who claimed he had bought a Trek 1200 with Tiagra from Cajees for R12 000. They sold him a 2005 model in 2011. It was obviously old, unsold stock. Those particular models sold for R5 500 back in 2005. In fact Sportsmans Warehouse had discounted them to R4 900 when they discontinued Trek.
  8. Not sure which Jhb shops will sell, but I see that some Axis bikes are being discounted to R4 799. They have Alivio parts and hydraulic discs. These are probably the best value for money spec wise. Also check out Solomons (in Lynwood and Woodmead). They have some really good deals on Fuji bikes.
  9. DT Swiss has a better pedigree, but you will be getting a warranty with the Edge wheels as they are new.
  10. But would you pay R15 000 to ride with him?
  11. I can't for the life of me remember, but one of the Pro Tour teams had a whole stack of their bikes stolen at a big European race a few years back. So yes, other countries have bike theft too.
  12. Doubt you will notice any perfomance gain going from X5 to SLX. It's not really much of an upgrade.
  13. What about anodising? I'm sure that powder coating would be too thick.
  14. Not quite a Dogma, but I had a similar looking crack on my Raleigh fork. The bike shop told me it was only a paint crack at the point where the aluminium steerer was bonded to the carbon. Raleigh did offer to replace, even though the warranty had expired. I never did replace and never had any trouble from it.
  15. There have been numerous posts/threads on the poor quality of Avids.
  16. Won't take long for the Chinese to copy this too.
  17. Silverback.............not the most exotic of the brands, but good value for your money and if all the compliments on the Hub is anything to go by, they have the best after sales service by far.
  18. Way too expensive, wouldn't pay more than R2 000 for that. The picture isn't too clear, but the g/set looks a bit scratched.
  19. I spray normal Q20 onto the pivots of the derailure and put a drop of Squirt chain lube into the jockey wheel bearings.
  20. Fulcrum looks much nicer than the Elites and they are higher up the food chain than the Elites.
  21. Official launch seems to be 1 Sep each year, although some models appear earlier than that. I see that the Addict is making a return for 2014
  22. What some people don't seem to understand is that people buy second hand because they want a bargain. No one is going to buy a second hand item with no warranty, just to save R50. I have seen second hand bikes costing more than the discounted prices offered by bike shops.
  23. I've heard the Silverback road disc bikes are arriving in August
  24. What's the issue here? It's a place to trade and that's exactly what people do. If someone makes a profit, good luck to them.
