Share some of the sentiments, most of which is completely right. Biggest issue for me though is if we don't agree with a particular law, that is not good enough reason to disobey. Because what happens if everyone does that? When I'm in my car I don't agree that overtaking on the left should be illegal so I overtake on the left when I feel like it. Or I don't believe it necessary to come to a dead stop at a four way so I just yield very quick and move along. The result is that everyone has their own rules and no one really knows what the other driver is going to do next, Resulting in chaos. Which is pretty much where we are today I think.

What's even more frustrating is that we can't do anything. Or can we? We just extend sympathy. Glad you survived. Pity about your IM blah blah blah. But what do you do? Call the police? Nothing happens. Moer the driver? Let's not go there again. So what do you do? Vent on the hub seems to be about the only thing we can do. We suck it up and carry on. In the case of the 2 pros who could potentially suffer career ending injuries, if negligence can be proven in a criminal case I would contribute to legal fees to have that driver sued for his last penny. Why should he be able to go earn a living when he took the ability of others to do the same away? I would love to see a change to the laws. If you cause a motor vehicle accident, you/your insurance company must be liable for all damages incurred to all the vehicles involved. Including cycles. Why should I have to claim from my insurance, pay excess, become a higher risk and pay higher insurance premiums when I'm involved in 3 accidents a year if none of it was my fault?

Let's hope Jevandre gets through this. He had a nasty crash last year that kept him out of the junior road race champs when he had such good form. RiP to the fallen MtBr. That is such sad SAD news.

I started in U and found that choice of words there: "passing right" works much better than "keep left"

When does it start?

How hard were you riding before you cramped? Does it happen at 90kms even if you were riding in zone 2/3 all the way? Or is it that you've been pushing your bodies limits? I cramped going up Suikerbos on Sunday. The only other time I've cramped was 3 years ago going up Suikerbos. Don't think I've pushed myself hard enough in any other rides to actually cramp.

Couldn't agree more. I parked up the hill close to CPUT and there were bikes on racks. Whether secured I don't know.

They need to please please do better with mine. Counting the batch sizes I started around 7000th position and finished in about 3000th from group "U". So I was one of those shouting "passing right, passing right" up most hills.

I couldn't find a rubbish bin in the start area. Felt like London where they're scared people will put bombs in it.

I started in U and can't remember seeing any litter on the road. Well done all.

Thanks for that. Didn't ride last year but to my mind the average in decent conditions would be around 1% of finishers (900 riders or so) usually do a sub 3. I stand corrected.
