  1. Did a test with Gary Beneke that time. He runs a small fitness studio in the south of Joburg. Most useful info there was actually my threshold numbers but highlighted the state of all my energy systems at that time. I think it helps with the extra awareness of your body and training. Was meant to do a re-test at the High Performance centre this year but didn't get to it. Apparently it's much better with them.
  2. This could be the only thread active during the holidays...
  3. This made me go and have a look. According to my Garmin report, I’ve spent a total 382 hours (and some change) training this year. That’s a total of 16 days. As a percentage, I’ve spent 4% of this year on my bike. About 40% of that was on the indoor trainer so at least I was at home for those hours. An average of 7 hours/night sleep works out to 30% and a 9 hour workday = 38%. That brings me to 72% (all of the above). The rest of the 28% must all have been spent between the missus, social, doing what you have to do, (getting ready for work, getting ready to train) etc etc. That ain’t to bad right.
  4. Eish. The difference a year makes. I’m now at that target of 68 but my training grinded to halt in November. Will be much the same December so possibly back at 74 in the new year. I will eat like a piglet come what may!
  5. Sorry about your loss buddie! Very powerfull message in that protest action! Well done!
  6. looks awesome!!!
  7. What would the cost if this event be roughly? Ballpark totals? Will look to do this next year.
  8. wOw... Good luck to everyone
  9. It's like the water point halfway up Suikerbos.
  10. When I was a student the 1-2 year working holiday (mostly in the UK) was what most people did. I think that opened people's eyes to expat living. South Africans are late starters to the expat "game" but has since managed to spread themselves to just about every corner of the world. It's not only school/varsity leavers who goes working abroad these days. I left when I was 29.
  11. Or maybe. Does 1.4 for both sound about right? (Apparently it's exactly the same according to my quick Internet research?.(
  12. Anyone know what the percentage difference between 39/27 and 34/25 would be?
  13. Work getting in the way of the important stuff. Hope to be living much closer to the start line next year. Hope you all had a great ride!
  14. Have a good one guys and stay safe! Have G as well but will be DNS on this one. See you next year!
  15. Just logged on to find out whats in that bag. The missus wants to collect it and keep the “goodies”.....
  16. Okay....!!! Thanks for that!
  17. I probably wont make it to the start and would give up my spot but what does the fine print/rules say about riding under someone else's name without doing the substitution?
  18. That makes it 94kms right? As opposed to the 97.4 of previous years??? How many sleeps still?
  19. That's how I feel right now and I almost always seem to get sick when it happens.
  20. nice
  21. Very lekka looking machine! Good luck with your goal. Where your bottles gonna go if you plan to be out that long? Or are you stopping to drink???? (Hope to get my machine built up in time for 947 )
  22. My LBS makes me walk in with a smile every time.
  23. I feel the same way. I can live at home but it would be silly to ignore the crime issue. When I was a lad, criminals was scared to come into my hood, but this......
  24. Good luck with that dude, and glad you’re safe.
  25. Good idea. Might be dependent on the numbers that can make it. I can’t the weekend before raceday. But if anyone want to ride the Wednesday/Saturday 13th/16th in the Roodepoort area, please let me know. With all the hijackings and shootings (albeit different areas/other threads) I’m not riding anywhere alone. Don’t know that “hood”
