Yesterday, I did the marvelous UMKO classic ride. About 5 k in, I passed a dude with Hub riding kit. Sweet, someone followed through on the other thread about kit, sticker etc. So I said Howzit and introduced myself. Dude looked at me puzzled, then revealed, Uhm no this isnt the hubsa kit, but The Hub, the store. My bad. Looked nice anyway.
In their ( as in grumpy wives) defense, cycling is actually a stupid sport. You have to spend way too many hours riding to increase your performance. Running, ( which should be illegal) is much more time efficient. And cheap. With 12 hrs a week training, there's just never enough time for anything else. Should maybe give up work.
My current wife also rides and works so she knows how hard it is to fit it all in, so understands and gives little stress. I get more from my teenage daughter. Told CW when she does Sani with me can train flat out and I'll hold the fort, but my riding partner won't let her have the entry. Sorry babe.
That's always going to be the case with sport, and the heroes sport creates. One fan's hero is another fan's clown. That's why we love sport and why we get so attached to it, as you get emotionally connected. You love Sharks or Bulls, Ferrari or McLaren, Armstrong or Contador . Can't do both. So depending on which camp you live in, you will form your own opinion. Proper , logical debate not possible from a biased start point. It is what it is.
Assuming the tour and other races are all stripped, then 2nd place gets the win by default, and 3rd goes to second etc. ironic if someone with previous or current ban gets elevated. Just a messy outcome. Wonder if he has to give back all those cute lions that he won?
I've never done Epic so no experience there, but I reckon a bike that's comfortable and forgiving is major. Fighting a stiff racing machine down the tech stuff going to knock the stuff out of you in the 7th and 8 th hour of the day. I have last years Scott and find its hundreds.
Should still get 25 overs with the second new ball if we need it. That's plenty to knock over a few. I don't think they will even get there. Need 3.66 an over on the fifth day when the rest of the game struggled to get above 3, for both sides. Going to struggle with keeping wickets and trying to bash it. Might see a few short balls past a few noses as well.
These ous are bun and coke. Fast boys can't even knock over our 8 and 10, so they bring on the twirler who's taken 1 jammy wicket in the last 90 or so overs he's bowled at us. Got a white hankie Andrew?
