Good luck boys, now that our 12 is back home. Bulls v Stormers like the curtain raiser.

Was watching the BMX world champs yesterday. I haven't ridden one for about 35 years or so, but seems to be a bit of a lottery type race. Saw plenty racers get taken out by others crashing in front or around them. Imagine training all year then DNF cos some dude bins it in front of you on the first corner. And they crash proper.

I've got the expert version. Had for about 3 months, and honestly no issues. Changed the tires for Racing Ralphs which makes a big difference. I hear what guys are saying about the rear shock, but other than being a bit firmer than my previous RP32 fitted bike, I think it's cracker. Handles well and proper fast. Im happy.

Never had a problem with a regular towel. Just hang it up, like you do when you camping.

Gee Ratty. Sorry to hear that. This should be such an exciting week, especially riding with your Dad. I really hope for your sake you can make a plan, cos it's such a brilliant event. Even if you have to ride solo???

I dig my nespresso, but only the black brown or purple pods. The others a bit gentle for me.

Eish. I must be using too much. Lasts me about a month! ( using on current wife and kids bikes too though)

About 6 hours this week, short sharp sessions, previous 4 weeks been about 13 hrs each so roughly half. Plus no gym, or anything that might hurt.

For sure ride the new one. Biggest disappointment on your first ride with your 29er is when you realize you actually still have to pedal the thing. Once over that, it's sweet. Enjoy

Gnds Are you basing your decision on moving back here mainly on the quality and type of mtb trails, or are you coming home anyway?

That 60K ride is a proper mountain bike route. Big climbs, cracker flowing single track, some seriously technical single track and downhills , like the drop down from the top of Larry loop back to the river. No place for the gentle! Seemed to be quicker than last year, maybe dryer track? All good.

Yebo. Named Katy. Love it. Upgraded tyres to racing ralphs. Definately more of a racing bike than my previous trail type bike, and that took some getting used to , but with the right setup it's a beaut. Did I say that it's fast? Sorry my bad, mines the Expert , not the Elite..

If you buy a service package from one of the teams that offer them, makes life much easier. You don't carry one single spare other than tube and chain links and CO2 that you may need on route. Arrive over the finish line, hand in your bike and go collect it ready to go before the start in the morning. Sweet. Costs money but saves admin.

We basically live on the route, and still have to organize to get there. Had to try really really hard one year not to bale as I went past my house..... Usually a buddy who's folks live in PMB takes us up and then one of our current wives will fetch from the finish. Bit of a mission but worth it if you live here IMO. Riding flat box down 4 lanes of the highway without cars is cool.

Yip. But all 3 events are the same course same terrain so don't think it makes much difference. Still got to ride the distance. Last year I took some strain , probably too fast early on day 1 and battled to recover, so this year been training hard. Brilliant event though, you'll love it.
