  1. Snapped my chain last week, so replaced with 2 quick links that I had , but I have used SRAM 10 speed links on a Shimano 29er chain. Is that an issue?
  2. Yebo, boys and girls hockey looking good . Canoeing , gymnastics ( those ous are amazing athletes) swimming , water polo, boxing. Probably going to be boxing in my house over what channels to watch.
  3. 23. Amateur wannabe racer
  4. Practice twisting your heel sideways and not lifting your foot. Always harder when on flat easy surfaces. Amazing how easily you clip out when in a tight tech spot on a trail before you tip and roll, without even thinking about it.
  5. Nope, same camp each night.
  6. Not 100% sure, but I think you can. I know they have supporters packages which include food as well. Mail them and ask?
  7. Eish. I'd fly to Durbs and drive up. Start is in the Free State, near Sterkfontein Dam. Camp in the Emseni camp overnight after day 1 and day 2, and then day 3 finishes in Winterton, which is about 20 ks away as the crow flies ( bit further by bike!) Long way to drive from CT and then drive back 3 days later. Durban to Winterton is an easy 2 hrs or so, and probably 3 hrs to the start venue.
  8. Are you doing 2 day or 3 day?
  9. Yip, can sleep in the race tents, similar to Sani, down by the river, or you can pitch your own tent, or bring your caravan and set up a few hundred metres away on the other side of the camp. The main race and food tent is about in the middle. All good either way. Past few years we have used our own tents, but always a bit of a pain to take down and pack up after the race. Very chilled environment and superb event.
  10. Horse
  11. Chill V. Just a saying that we can all identify with, the stuff that makes us Saffas. Embrace those things, they special. Like " Here Kitty, come get a naaartjie" or " Come on Bongani" or " Met eish ya". Sweet.
  12. In for the Descent. Always done the 2 day up to now. Looking forward to it.
  13. Whats the difference between a chicken ?
  14. No. Grahamstown.
  15. Sweet stormers. That last try was technically brilliant. Great line and offload by Siya. Can't teach that. I rate him to be a bok for a long time. Bok squad? Where is Brussouw? I thought he was a guarantee. Nice for Keegan though. Hope he starts at 8. Jean at 13?
  16. Mtb slicks are cheap.
  17. I've done a few on my mtb, nice, just takes longer. Generally whole batches of mtbers together . However I prefer it on a road bike. That and tour Durban is the only time in the whole year when I ride a road bike, and the speed is great fun on the closed roads. Plus you finish quicker.
  18. Medium Scott and medium Trek. I'm 178 cm.
  19. Good luck boys, now that our 12 is back home. Bulls v Stormers like the curtain raiser.
  20. Was watching the BMX world champs yesterday. I haven't ridden one for about 35 years or so, but seems to be a bit of a lottery type race. Saw plenty racers get taken out by others crashing in front or around them. Imagine training all year then DNF cos some dude bins it in front of you on the first corner. And they crash proper.
  21. I've got the expert version. Had for about 3 months, and honestly no issues. Changed the tires for Racing Ralphs which makes a big difference. I hear what guys are saying about the rear shock, but other than being a bit firmer than my previous RP32 fitted bike, I think it's cracker. Handles well and proper fast. Im happy.
  22. @Ratty. How did you end up? All work out for you?
  23. What batch you starting in bru?
  24. Yebo. All the best boys and girls. See you at the Race on Thursday.
  25. Rouxtjie, just bring your nespresso machine along. I'll come find you in the mornings.
