  1. During the week there is a group that meets at the BP on North Rand rd opposite Tour de Frans cycles at 4:45. Tuesday they head out to Bedfordview and the rides are hard and will definitely be well over a 30kmh avg. Not much waiting gets done on a Tuesday so it's up to each person to hang on for dear life or ride alone.Wednesday and Friday is a shorter and slightly more chilled ride, quite a few guys normally pitch up on MTBs.Thursday they also head out to Bedfordview but add in a hill or 2 and they normally wait for the rest of the group after fishers hill. Still quite a tough ride. The Tuesday and Thursday routes will change closer to winter.

    Lost city 2014

Tough day in the wind and gutter in AL today. Well done to the 2 guys who broke away and stayed away, that couldn't have been an easy task. Lost the main bunch with about 20km to go but managed to sneak in just under 3hrs.

AL in the road race for me as well.
  4. Thanks!
  5. Hi Hubbers, This might be a stupid question and has probably been answered here before, but I couldn't find anything in the search. I am changing the chainrings on my MTB from a 40/28 setup to 38/26, do I need to shorten the chain or will I get away with leaving it as is? Thanks

  7. My first marathon and first "proper" MTB race and bliksem, what an intro... Very tough and technical trail but a good experience overall. Also some good views from the tops of the climbs. Started cramping with about 10kms to go but managed finish in 4:26. Well done to the organizers and good job at the Choc water table.
  8. If anyone is looking to sell an entry for this weekends marathon please let me know. I have a mate who is desperately looking for an entry.
  9. It should also alert you if you go off the route. I've used it once and it worked quite well.
  10. Just received a reply, they have fixed the issue with the ID showing in the address bar as well
  11. Also got a response, however it is not 100% fixed because the full ID is still shown in the address bar once you've selected a person to view. They said they would also correct that.
  12. A bit concerning that they are showing full ID numbers when doing a search by name...
  13. Not today but over the weekend in Oviston on the south banks of Gariep dam.
  14. Hi Hubbers, I am going to Oviston on the southern banks of Gariep dam for the weekend and I am thinking of taking my MTB along, does anyone know of any trails close by to Oviston? The Oviston Nature Reserve is very close by so I am hoping there are some trails in the reserve. If anyone has any experience of the area please could you let me know. Thanks
  15. Just installed my recently purchased NW chainring from Rapide, now to HTFU and check if the legs can cope...
  16. Paul - 082 423 0944 I haven't had any carbon repairs done by him but have taken my bike to him for a full service and I am impressed. He is very thorough and explains exactly what was done and what might need to be done in the near future.
  17. I bought a Momsen MTB from them last year, no issues and good service and good price.
  18. I had something similar (I think), I had a small chip with a tiny bit of the rim protruding on the rim which caused more a of "tick tick tick" sound when braking. I just took some fine sand paper and sanded down the protruding bit of the rim / chip and it seemed to do the trick.

    Emperors Race

No stress Pieter, he is a very strong sprinter but does tend to hide away in the bunch , I guess that is racing. I'm a bit different and get a bit jittery when I notice a gap getting bigger and cant help but trying to help chase it down but it often results in me having very little left for the finish. Good racing by you guys yesterday (and most days), you had me digging very deep to hold onto one of your attacks up a fairly long drag in Springs (I think)

Also rode in AL, overall it was a good day out. The last few kms was a bit nerve wrecking with all the shorter distance riders and then that accident, I heard the cyclists go down just behind me and it sounded bad, I hope everyone heals up quickly. Yip, the Lenmed guys (Boerie and Piesang) are often spicing things up in the A bunch. Helping with the chasing down of the attacks from them, RastMan, Underachiever and AJP left me with very little for the finish sprint but was happy to finish with the bunch and unscathed. I was in the black and white FiT kit on the Felt. Well done to all that rode!!
  24. Also entered for the 3 day, the Descent. Will be my first stage race, looking forward to it!!
