    Emperors Race

Looks like they've allocated the start groups already, you can see your start group on Racetec's site. AL for me.

    Emperors Race

This is what my Garmin recorded for last years race.
  3. I've been looking around for a new saddle for a while, I'm leaning towards a Fizi:k Arione and judging by this thread it seems like it's well liked. Does this seem like a good deal? http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/fizik-arione-kium Sorry for the slight hijack.
  4. Try and train with riders that are stronger than you, it's tough at first (actually it's always tough) but I have found it has definitely improved my riding.

    Argus 2014

Were you B1280 on the Santa Cruz? Well done if that was you!! On the topic of guys on MTBs, did anyone see the guy from D on the MTB with rigid fork, I started in C and finished in 3:01 and he passed me with about 20kms to go so he must be one of the guys from D who got a sub3... on a MTB . Well done to him too!!

    Argus 2014

My second Argus done and dusted. Started in C and it was a tough day in the saddle, that wind was quite something. Coming down Chappies and into Llandudno the gusts of wind just about stopped me dead on a couple of occasions. As a few have already said, C caught B very early into the race and the bunch was massive and quite hair raising until after Smitswinkel but luckily there were no major crashes (that I saw). Finished in 3:01 so just missed a sub3 but happy considering the conditions . Enjoyed the beers in the beer tent afterwards!!
  8. Here are some pics of the bike. Rider is home and miraculously he has no broken or cracked bones as all the x-rays were clear but he is in a lot of pain but I guess that's expected after being hit by 1 ton of steel. He is just hoping he will feel ok by the weekend for Argus. Unfortunately there is has not been much success in tracking down the driver but the case has been opened with the police. Keep safe out there guys and gals!!
  9. It happened just before 5am. Mate seems ok but they're keeping him over night cos he has a bit of a pain in his chest. We're hoping it's the right number plate because one guy who was riding (I wasn't there) swears it was a Toyota but the details we've received show otherwise. So either it's a cloned plate or the guy riding with him took it down wrong. Must've happened so quickly and it was dark. We're just glad he is ok, it could've ended very badly. Will post pics of bike just now.
  10. TYJ553GP , Toyota is all I have at the moment.
  11. A mate of mine was hit by a Toyota in Benoni early this morning close to Planet Fitness gym. The idiot who hit him just drove away. Luckily he seems ok, busy getting x-rays and scans now because he was out cold for a while. Bike is stuffed though. We have the registration plate details and we will definitely try find the idiot who did this.
  12. HUGE respect for that guy!! One can only be inspired by someone like him! Well done dude.
  13. Lookup your results from today, click on your name and then on the left hand side of the screen there should be a link that says "More info on this participant", click on that.
  14. Firstly, well done to the organizers, it's a very well organized event. I'll be back for future events. As for my race, AL was quite well behaved, managed to stick with the front bunch until about 2kms to go I where I cramped badly for some reason and had to sit up so couldn't finish with them unfortunately. Thanks to all for a good day out.
  15. Got the SMS and email not too long ago.
  16. I'm not worried, I'm listed on the site in AL where I'll gladly stay thanks...
  17. Overall it was a good day on the bike, managed to hold on to the front bunch of AL. Well done to the guy that won it, he seriously put the hammer down just after Carnival City where there was also quite a big crash shortly after his attack (not caused by him tho). Well done to our marshals, we had a bakkie and a bike with us the whole way. The only complaint I have is those frikkin cones, it was a hair raising first few kms and an even more frightening last few kms whilst trying to dodge the shorter distance riders and cones!! Glad I got finished in one piece. To those that crashed, hope you heal up quickly!! We'll do it all over again on Sunday at Carnival.
  18. AL for me too, will be in black and white FiT kit on Felt F4.
  19. Like Agteros said, I dont think there was enough wind yesterday for guttering to be effective. It seems there were quite a few hubbers in AL (and BL), well ridden to all!! Well done to the winner of AL, he did a lot of work up front and still managed to take the sprint.
  20. Bad luck Speedy. Hope the others heal up quickly.
  21. That near car crash with the merc was a bit hair raising.
  22. Agreed, well done to the marshals, we had a marshal leading the AL bunch the whole way. I saw the guy come down out the corner of my eye, it looked and sounded nasty. I think it was a touch of wheels that caused it. I hope nobody was too badly hurt. Also finished in 2:42, good day on the bike and luckily the weather was kind to us.
  23. AL for me too. Looks like there were only 4 groups in the open category last year.
  24. Night before the race, a good meal (normally pasta) and some beers Race day: For breakfast, I'll have future life and a banana, and sip on an energy drink on the way to the race. I normally eat a peanut butter and jam sarmie while getting ready at the car. During the race I will chomp those 32GI chews and pop a GU every now and then accompanied by FiT CarboSupreme juice. After the race, I will find the biggest meal around and smash it in my face, obviously with a good few beers to wash it down.
