  1. Supposed to come out in the next few months. But I assume they're pre-occupied with sram red 2012 at the moment.
  2. I'll take a set of either the stingers/404's/808's or anything to form my own opinion with the help of power. If someone wants to lend me a set
  3. Hope he does. Carlo should be limited to 15km for a while, otherwise it may stunt his development. Who knows, he may be the next Burry?
  4. My front brakes were worn out, completely, one day when I was riding at contermans. I was fine and then I started going down, can't remember what it's called. The steep switchback, the 1st one, ridden it before, anyhow, go down with speed to use for the berm, otherwise you fall off. Go in fast, pull the brakes, back brake works, front doesn't, fly off the path, tumble, land on the track a few meters down. I only wish i had a gopro.
  5. I used to have a table of the age group-maximum distance but I've lost it now. What I remember, is that U14's shouldn't ride over 35km. Can't really remember anything else But, obviously one gets extraordinary cases which allow exceptions. What I can recommend, from personal experience, is to let him/make him do the shorter rides. Let him move up the distances when he can, but if you plan on him racing XCO/XCM and he's already been doing 35km he might suffer with the changes in pace and intensity on an XCO course. Rather let him do the shorter rides faster than the longer rides while suffering. In my opinion.
  6. I understand and for racing when you get a flat you're out. But with clinchers at least you can finish the race. When I race the league I usually have a back up vehicle, so now I just gotta find me some tubbies
  7. That happened to me once. I just didn't get a lift down.
  8. Some people don't have a backup vehicle on their morning rides/races. Which is the main issue.
  9. I think holding the same speed will be harder. But holding the same HR will be easy up a steady climb, then one would see going faster with the same HR/Power, it's just that power changes every pedal stroke so it's hard to keep it constant on a climb. Thats much easier than seeing less HR for the same speed, just changing the variables.

Shot for the awesome ride guys,
  11. Dude, if you're going deep sections then Zipps are the way to go. They're renowned for being light and fast. They are pricey, but they'll be worth it. In fact, I'll even do some powertests for you with them to show you how they reduce effort at the same speed. It'll only be a week or so But if you have the cash then they're the way to go
  12. Ya, Buycycle aren't the best with their pics. Had to triple check with them before I ordered a set of wheels that I was getting a)clinchers, b)alu braking surfaces.
  13. they are firecrest, sorry Edman. It says firecrest all over the place.
  14. Only ask for discounts if you know them. I wouldn't dare ask for a discount at a shop in jhb if I just walked in for the 1st time. At the same time I don't ask for discounts at the bike shops in CT, if they give me a discount then i'll just be more inclined to go back there. Simple.
  15. Oh, and My dad and I will be joining on the 31st if the weather isn't too treacherous
  16. What was your power going up maritime? Noticed the powertap
  17. Okay, not medical facts... But I fell on my elbow and fractured it in 3 places and it wasn't that bad, whereas if you fall on your hand and break your wrist i've heard it is the most painful. And a cheekbone just isn't practical as it could splinter into your eye or cause damage to they eye socket/eye. But I'm open to opinions on the most painful breaks...
  18. I think when crashing all thoughts go out the window and are replaced by "oh no, not again" after which you fall on your face or other bodily part. What i'm saying is, no matter how many "crash right" books/videos/articles you see/read, in the moment before the crash you're not going to recall what to do, unless you practice a lot and keep the protocol for crashing on your mind whenever riding, which would be counter productive taking your concentration away from the road/trail causing more crashes. Just fall on your forearm/elbow, doesn't hurt that much to break/fracture and won't be as bad as a broken cheekbone or wrist.
  19. and don't make too much of a fuss if they crash. It will toughen them up if they decide to carry on and get into the racing scene. Just don't be too harsh. Or else they might turn out like Vino, not necessarily a bad thing though...
  20. I think my dad may have done a similar thing
  21. the frame geometry is more relaxed as a whole to.
  22. He's just saying that he has the physique of a pro. (potentially)
