  1. Which one is 40km?
  2. Okay, but lets be honest the climbs are all about 500m except for the one which is probably 800m? Just because the one starts higher doesn't necessarily make it harder, in this case it does, but you also get flat races at high altitude.
  3. I think this is a case of the bike shop being less than persistent. If you want it bad enough, you'll make a plan to get it. Personally, If the wheel is working well, I would go the trouble (or lack thereof - dangle) to get the spare I need and if all else fails, order through an online site. maybe your financial situation is just very relaxed? But I think this might be down to your LBS??
  4. I always try to end my race with a sprint, even if I've had a crap ride and am near the back. It will help next time i'm in the front, dying and am in contention for a podium place to know that my body can still do it. "When your body says no more and you've had enough - Thats when you go again"
  5. If you and the shop were SO desperate to get the wheels back it would have been easy enough for you to source the part from somewhere else. CWC said to me when I was at their shop recently that you can tell him (Chris Junior) anything you want and he will source it, import it and charge a small commission for the hassle. But it seems that you would rather pay (x) amount for a new wheelset than go through the trouble of finding the part.
  6. I assume you take out the bottom bracket which is connect to the internal shaft drive? that way you roll the chain through until you find the quicklink or just use a chainbreaker and pull the rest out? Or am i missing something?
  7. Cycle Lab northgate have some of the friendliest staff around.
  8. ohh, they put that on me after my Argus crash last year, okay, I know what you're talking about, thanks guys.
  9. But thats because you're logged in.
  10. This is a risky move, but if you know your username, not display name, user name then its easy. You go to the sign in page, enter your username and click (underneath the password box) "I've forgotten my password" Don't know but they should e-mail you a new one and you can change it from then.
  11. What is the name of the bandage you use? Had a nasty crash this am at a race...
  12. I was just joking about the showing off, maybe being a bit sour that I couldn't come across such a deal But if you're willing to take the risk then go for it!
  13. We all know you didn't say that earlier... And now you're just showing off. One of the main issues of tubbies is the practicality if you don't have a back-up vehicle. So: Get a puncture on a clincher-change tube. Get a puncture on a tubbie-start walking(unless you have the kit but its still a big hassle)
  14. Well it does advertise for the companies that sponsor them. But the manufacturer of the clothing will lose money as they are the only party selling things. So for the companies that have their names branded on the shirts it advertising, but for the makers, they're losing big money.
  15. The father of a friend of mine was in China last year for business, and they are extremely wealthy, but the father doesn't particularly like spending money on necessary things... Anyhow, he came back from China with a "phone" (as in IPhone without the I) and a "mokia" the Phone for him and the mokia for my friend. We went to play tennis later and his phone dropped out of his pocket and shattered... like literally into 30pieces It was funny, but it pays to buy quality.

For less than that price you can get sram red! I dunno, maybe I just prefer sram.
  17. Well it works for me. Bring the back wheel through by swinging it from the front. But that's only on the VERY steep and sharp switchbacks, otherwise its just the back brake. But since the topic title is "steep descending switchbacks" I thought I'd give advice on how I handle those particular ones. Of course everyone is different...
  18. Just touch the back brake, lean back and pull the front brake hard, not suddenly but increasingly, that will swing you round the corner.
  19. Or has somebody borrowed it and maybe forgot to give it back?
  20. What about greenedge and the trek team whatever its called?
  21. Their song "beat the devils tattoo" is also quite cool.
  22. Planetary (GO) by My Chemical Romance. Paradise by Coldplay. I just have a top 50 on Itunes that I update with my favourite 50 songs every week.
  23. Dude, the pro's out there, like the real pro's, World champ level use carbon bikes. Needless to say they hammer them day in day out until they're done. But whatever you do, unless you are in the top 100 in the world, Carbon will be able to withstand it. There could be a freak accident in which carbon would break and alu wouldn't, but really, lighter + stiffer.
  24. I fell off at the robot at the bottom of suikerbossie on my 1st ride with cleats on the road bike. Some cars behind had a laugh and I haven't done it since.
