  1. There should also be an uphill sprinter vote. I believe they're called puncheur or summing according to bicycling. Short spurts on steep sections.
  2. Look for a cannondale, because cannondale is the boss.
  3. The OP.
  4. If weight is your primary concern, go for the Cannondale Flash Carbon 1 2011. Full xtr and mavic slr wheels, weighs 8.7kg i think. It is a 26er though.
  5. woah woah woah. Dude. If you want sub 9.5kg on a 29er there is only one brand that can take you there. Its Cannondale. However, Cannondale's flash 29er 1 for 2011 weighs in at 9.7kg's and is R58k. The new ultimate 29er will probably be sub 9kg's (just guessing) but will cost around R75-R80k. For R50k, you might have to settle for sub 10. Sub 10 on any MTB is flippen good, and on a 29'er you'll be paying extra for new techonology.
  6. probably some part of the crank hitting the cadence sensor? When I put mine on there was also a clicking sound so I just got off and pushed it(crank) around a few times and I saw that because of the new magnet it was tapping my pump... Just roll it round and look for the problem.
  7. Sram and Srm are coming out with an X0 crank power meter soon. Also the heavier hub at the back doesn't feel that great when riding, kind of unbalances the bike, IMO.
  8. I reckon those lightweights are around R20k? I was told that I wasn't allowed to use my deep sections at the upcoming youth festival, so I was just seeing what options there were. I had a feeling it would be hard to lose weight on the ksyriums without doing anything drastic or having to sell the deep sections and the power meter. Thanks for the advice though. I'll stick with the ksyriums for now though Edit: R29k for the pair, R35k with ceramic bearings.
  9. Although apparently the new XX's are gonna be quite good. And hey, if its good enough for the Burry's, Kulhavy's and Sausers', its good enough for anybody.
  10. Actually on Cape Schools we had some powerbar recovery bars, especially after the 8km beach (run), they helped a lot!
  11. Where you based? super keen to get a pair! XX right?
  12. I'm running XX on a flash and when it gets wet, they screech, when you need to break hard, they screech. For the price they are, I feel they sacrificed too much in order to get the weight down. Most people i know of change their XX brakes to R1's before use and then just sell the XX's.
  13. I've only had the bars and the gels but I might consider trying the drinks as I'm lost for one that I like at the moment.
  14. Ok, sounds good Thanks for putting me in the know.
  15. PoS, I know it isn't my place to complain about any of the trails, and believe me it isn't me intention. But i've ridden down most of the DH trails on a HT XC bike with 90mm travel. I know that Tokai is mostly flowing single track and not all the technical... obiusly, for me, being a XC rider, im not talking about the jumps, but maybe, and i'd be glad to help, we could try and add a technical section, maybe similar to the rock gardens in PMB?? Or something else that will really test the technical ability of riders? Just a thought. New trail is awesome btw
  16. I don't have remote lockout but if there is a hill longer than 500m or so and it doesn't require lots of traction I always lock it. Or if its a short steep climb that requires a sprint. I have however, riddin down all the ay from the mast to the bottom of tokai through all the singletrack thinking my bike was waaaay rougher than usual, i only realised when i put it on the bike rack
  17. I'm a kid, and I have sold many items through gumtree and only one through thehub, but i've also bought on thehub. Maybe its just that i've had experience, but its just a basic rule that he forgot. If he repays the money then a lesson is learnt and problem solved. Asking what school and where he works is irrelevant. A school doesn't define somebody. Its a place we go to, it has an impact on our lives but it isn't who we are, although figuratively it is, for some. Just a stereotypical comment. Not a personal attack at all.
  18. Not completely sure but i dont think its possible. If you are rolling at 70r/pm in a massive gear then you'll probably be going around 35/40km/h, but if your struggling in an easy gear at 70r/pm then you could be going at 25km/h. You'd need a power meter or some other things to do that. I think.
  19. I have a flash 26er and its amazing! The flash 29er looks sweet too. But the scalpel 29er...yuk! just my opinion though.
  20. They should be available by march next year I rate, probably around R1800, 3x more than X0, thats for XX though. Cant wait for them, gonna put them on the day they arrive.
  21. Why take the risk when you can make a similar profit without getting in the shiz if you take it on consignment...
  22. Hi guys, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find it. Looking for some climbing wheels, tubular/clincher. Weight is obviously the primary concern. Currently have Mavic Ksyriums on. Also would like to do a poll once some suggestions come in... So, what would you suggest? Cheers
  23. Ones with cane greek stuff on them.
  24. I've got a rowing session in the morning at zeekovlei but i'll see when it ends if i can make it.
  25. Ok, So this bike has been on here before, but really... "Cane Greek"???? Does this guy not know anything about bikes? Or is this a new brand I don't know about. Maybe thats why he sells bikes so cheap? He doesn't actually know their true value.
