  1. The guys at SSpecialized must be morons. After p*ssing off everyone recently with the 'Roubaix' debacle, they're at it again, but with 'Allez': http://road.cc/conte...#comment-244568 The words don't even SOUND the bloody same! It's a pity SSpecialized are such a bunch of litigious twats. I like Omega-Pharma-Quickstep (especially Tom Boonen), but watching the Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday, I was rooting for anyone but them to win. The thought of a SSpecialized winning was too much for me..
  2. A really exciting race to watch after getting back home after my first ever track session today. Now for the Roma Maxima tomorrow!
  3. Yes it is illegal. And he could be prosecuted for it. However this does not rule the evidence inadmissible. Two separate issues. And the 'reasonable man' metric could be applied in this case.
  4. tafakes has been rather quiet. I wonder if that's because he's been sitting in tjoekie?
  5. Do it yourself: http://faqload.com/faqs/bicycle-components/misc/garmin-edge-500-disassembly
  6. Spinman! Now that's a name I have not heard in many a year!
  7. That actually describes the majority of cyclists...
  8. I must admit the TG formula has become somewhat predictable. But once in a while they toss up a chestnut...
  9. Pedestrians are the lemmings of the free world...
  10. As Buzzman said, Jeremy is actually becoming a closet cyclist. He has been spotted using his bike on several occasions...
  11. Nope. I also have very few problems. I commute 34kms a day in the City and have had a handful of incidents: mostly people fast asleep while driving through roundabouts. I have had two tossers in 9 months getting upset with me riding in the road. Both young, white louts swigging beer while driving to work at 6:30 in the morning.
  12. BTW, I thought the insert was really funny. Typical TG. Try and offend as many segments of society in 10 minutes. They certainly did that.
  13. Being a seasoned commuter in London, I have to say that Clarkson's take on bus drivers was BS. No surprises there! The London bus drivers are bloody good. They drive responsibly, indicate and only stop at designated stops. They give cyclists as good a berth as possible and are very patient. If I'm in a bus lane, they will move out, overtake and move back in when safe. I have NEVER been cut off by a bus. The problem with them is that they are numerous, long and tall. So they are VERY intimidating. Being a moron and trying to squeeze in between two of them, as Clarkson tried, is VERY scary. Passing them on the left or trying to undercut them on the left while they are turning is also dangerous and very scary. The simple rule is: don't be bloody stupid. Respect them, give them space when they are in front of you and all is fine. (You must remember Clarkson has an ulterior motive here: he does not like buses. As far as he is concerned they clog the roads, are for the proles who can't afford a car and use up half the road for bus lanes that could be better used by his Ferrari)
  14. Tubeless. No debate. Spares: - pump - CO2 bomb + adapter - spare valve + spanner - plugkit - tube (yes!) + tyre boot for sidewall cuts
  15. FYI, this made the news here in the UK.
  16. Tracks4Africa is for mostly off roading in remote areas. You won't see much except where you go into an area covered by this map set. It does not cover urban areas (much). If you want the routeable, local, urban maps then you should have bought the Street maps: https://buy.garmin.com/en-ZA/ZA/maps/on-the-road-maps/city-navigator-nt/city-navigator-southern-africa-nt/prod15535.html
  17. Shave. I use a trimmer, then a blade...
  18. Thanks - a long way to go, though... :-(
  19. Geez. OK - so I rode a single speed in real anger for the first time today! Wow! I see what guys mean when they say it's cycling at its core. Not having to shift up, down, worry about what gear you're in, shift to the correct gear, check it shifted, where am I now? .... Awesome. And it gives one hell of a workout...
  20. Not any more, I don't! Own a car, that is!
  21. And I am presuming you have serious personal issues. :-)
  22. Thanks Super J! Hold in there, Koos!
  23. And I don't drink alcohol. So that's out... ;-)
  24. I did not state that, Rad my post. I HAVE skipped lights, but I stop , look and proceed with caution. I always indicate before changing lanes and this has given warning to people who have been in my blind spot and I have not seen. It's called "being considerate", but I presume you have never heard of that?
  25. Yes - but you STOPPED! Anyone can make a mistake, but you were cautious in what you did. You did what any reasonable person would do. The problem is that allegedly this woman skipped the traffic light at high speed - she did not bother to stop or slow down. If she had done so and still have made a mistake, Koos would probably have been a lot better off...
