Hi Ali Firstly I think the text colour on the on line entries page clashes with the background, you can't see the link. Secondly a group of us went for breakfast on Sunday morning after our ride and there was money left over in the kitty (R60). I have made it up to R100 on behalf of the guys and girls who did the Tour de Klapperkop on Sunday and then doubled it to R200. Made the donation just now. I have ridden with no.one.knows and heard the noise. I am convinced it is something to do with the freewheel mechanism. I think ewep might be on the right track it is that kind of noise.

25km in 55min is not bad for the first ride. Good to hear you are back, just keep it up and stay healthy.

Used some of Sonic's Stan's. Have probably had about 5 punctures since then and all have sealed within a few seconds. Had one big one at Groenkloof when I landed on a rock and I had to stop and bounce the wheel a few times to get it to seal but it is still holding. Probably won't use Stan's next time - too expensive.

How did I know that was coming BB . My wheels had Schrader when I got it and the bmx tubes are easy to get hold of. Converted to tubeless some time ago and it has been working like a charm.

What's the thoughts on drilling the hole in the rim to take a schrader valve bmx tjoop? Is there any inherent problem with schrader valves?

Yup thanks Kona for organising and being our guide. Was great fun and excellent training. Nice to see everyone again, the climbs were cool, even the notorious "climb 5" which is vicious. Well done to all that made it.

Bakkie I have had a Polar 725 and now have the Edge 305. The 305 battery lasts for at least 6-8 hours so it won't die during most rides, last year I did the Etape du Tour in 9:50 and recorded the whole race. I normally charge it twice a week so it is not true that you have to charge before every ride. The big benefit is the GPS and creating a track log which makes analysis of your ride so much easier especially with something like SportTracks which is free software. With the Garmin not needing sensors etc it takes a few seconds to swap from road to MTB and no changes in settings. I have also found the Garmin HR strap to be less fussy i.e. you just put it on and it works without wetting it or anything. The main benefits of the Polar would be flexibility, i.e. wearing it to gym (as you said) and I think the Polar is probably a bit more reliable. Service I have experienced from both distributors has been equally good and excellent.

I rode the Etape last year on that exact combination. Ultegra Compact (50/34) and 12-25 cassette. Trained with it for 3 months before with no problems. Go for it, it is a good combination for serious climbs.
