  1. I appreciate the effort. Way too many new, duplicate, unnecessary threads being created. LOL
  2. +1 on not chancing it. Two things that the carbon repair guys I've spoken with are hesitant to repair (depending on the damage): handlebars and seatposts.
  3. Current models of Shimano cranks do both compact and standard chainrings on the same 110 bcd standard. I think that's applicable to 5800 too.
  4. Sorry to hear. You say you added a "cable tie". Do you mean a "chain and lock" or a nylon cable tie.?
  5. https://cycleman.co.za/ https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/workshop-tools/414948/pedros-professional-bike-tools-at-cyclemancoza
  6. Records are meant to be broken, but is it necessary to do it so soon. LOL Had they filmed the ESPN feature a little later, they could've asked Lance if he fancies a go ...
  7. OP wasn't clear on model of 404, but one would think at least Firecrest and they are supposedly quite good in the wind. That said, I'm actually just surprised that there was wind on Chappies ... Cape Town showing its 4 seasons across the peninsula again.? LOL
  8. Commentary suggests she crashed (as did others) during a recce ride.Course looking very dry and loose. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/training-crashes-force-moolman-pasio-koppenburg-and-harris-to-miss-strade-bianche/
  9. Your situation unfortunately doesn't allow for a straight swap. You'd need to get di2 hydraulic shifters, or cable disc calipers as an alternative. Have a look on Chainreaction for shifters if there's nothing here on the Hub - they had some well priced options. My experience found me riding my disc bike more. And if that's the case for you too, make that riding experience the best you can I say. Di2.!
  10. Many recent Venge buyers are saying exactly that.... LOL
  11. Kudos indeed.! At a time when the support/service/response of many others are being questioned. Well done.
  12. @ 1.55 she's likely to need the smallest frame available...XXS (46-48)should be available in many of the familiar brands. A woman specific model (that actually has a shorter reach and isn't just pink) could be handy too.
  13. Fairly common practice it seems. Some stores will amend price without issues, others will unfortunately try to justify the difference. If faced with the latter, you could just order "online" while at the store and collect at the same time.
  14. Is there a better way to launch a new model.?
  15. More expensive pedals are lighter, use more exotic materials, and are supposedly better built. Not sure if any of that matters to the average amateur cyclist.? 4 most common brands: Shimano, Look, Time and Speedplay. Anything else is likely to be a copy. Different brands tend to feel different with slightly different cleat interfaces, and people tend to have preferences in this respect... I suppose only a factor once you've used more than one.
  16. Would the smaller bike not have shortened her reach and in so doing placed more weight on the saddle and less on her arms/hands.? Could also mean that she's further back on the saddle leading to the discomfort experienced. Setup may just need some tweaking or possibly rebook the saddle being used.
  17. Since you have access to the tech, give it a try. Otherwise a replacement 5800 RD shouldn't be too pricey. Unless like someone said, this calls for a new bike. LOL
  18. You could use the same discs if wheels have the same interface i.e centre lock or 6 bolt. Swapping 6 bolt rotors between wheels would however be a real pain. Rather get the extra rotors imo.
  19. Good enough reason to ride the good wheels all the time.
  20. Budget friendly disc wheels seem to move quickly. I spotted these though ... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bike-wheels/411514/shimano-rs170-disc-brake-cl-with-tyres
  21. If serial check fails, I suppose getting a geometry chart and measuring accordingly should be easy enough.?
  22. I recently had to have a corroded bottle cage riv nut replaced which I'm convinced is the result of extra activity on the IDT. Seems sweat can cause some quick damage to metals.
  23. The idea of time trial will already reduce the interest and field. LOL A similar suggestion came up in random discussion, but leaning toward team team trial like at DC.
