  1. It was inevitable...
  2. I don't mind people taking time to respond, but please just respond. I'm personally not one to call, because I hate disturbing or being disturbed at inconvenient times.
  3. Sounding a little messy.! I should probably be grateful that none of the stores I've tried to contact over the last 3 weeks have come back to me.
  4. Pedigree and "fabric of cycling" have unfortunately been overtaken by bang for buck as demanded by 9/10 people.
  5. As kids we used to ride our BMX tyres until the canvass showed ... sometimes even the tube. LOL:D Suspect the same applies during lockdown.
  6. Still so many "I'd like to buy/collect" followed by nothing but silence. But just go ahead and sell to somebody else, and suddenly you're a terrible seller. LOL
  7. Still stuck on the idt. Having had 2 rides end up in hospital in the past, I'm just not as keen to get out just yet. Enjoy the 3hr window period if you are riding.
  8. Sounding like a sub3-level4-lockdown challenge.
  9. Have you tried watching any Supersport channels during lockdown ? They are performing similar resurrections. LOL
  10. Toughest thing ever.!!! After 2 weeks of home-schooling we found ourselves already 5 weeks behind. I don't think we're ever gonna catch up.
  11. Don't compare heartrate. Understand yours and manage it. Your "higher" heartrate can be influenced by genetics as well as your riding style. Experiment with cadence and power to find what makes you go faster up the hill while reducing/managing your heartrate.
  12. Here's hoping these letters aren't indicative of what to expect when parcels start circulating. LOL
  13. Would you be selling just the non drive arm.? Specials like those mentioned above (albeit limited offers) can derail second hand pricing. Complete crank may make for a better offer.
  14. What I will add is that they are not the only ones seemingly reluctant to respond to comms. I've mailed at least 5 stores about different things and none have responded. (after a week in some cases), while many of their sites are appealing for support of local business.
  15. May just need to trim the top a bit to fit under a helmet.
  16. Was that "just" lockdown related or possibly in anticipation of fallout relating to Mariner's closing operations. Really sad as the future of small businesses becomes more and more of a reality.
  17. I was saying yesterday that I could consider some loops/repeats around UCT because there's never anybody there. It should be just within the 5km radius and can be both challenging and enjoyable. Haven't ventured out yet but may see you there sometime soon.
  18. In my case it was one of these 2 bolt Sworks saddleclamps. They got a bit roughed up around the edges. The newer single bolt version works much better.
  19. That's my understanding too. (mask or buff) Having seen some pics of the masses of walkers/runners on Sea Point promenade (assuming legit), don't be surprised if the relaxing of this lockdown rule is quickly withdrawn again. (like cigarettes)
  20. Question asked, and answered.
  21. Or you've just been very lucky. LOL
  22. Can happen that saddle width/saddle position can leave a bit of the saddle clamp exposed. This and any sharp bits on the clamp will eat shorts without you even noticing. 2 Assos bibs later, I finally put the puzzle pieces together.
  23. Is TheCyclistCo still active/"open" for business.?
  24. Wasn't Adidas and Mavic associated at one stage.? So they come with that pedigree.
  25. Assos will always feature (for good reason) and many other European brands will come a close second, of which the more common are Nalini, Santini, Giordana and Vermarc. For me, density is an important quality in a chamois as is the positioning of the chamois in shorts. (something SA manufacturers can be a bit hit and miss on) Also, the combination of saddle and shorts plays a big role in comfort. PS some good deals (note: not cheap) on Assos at Cyclelab/CWC at the moment.
