What I forgot to add in earlier post was if able to, try the transponder (assuming it's detachable) with a different chest strap.
I have had failure in the past where only the strap was faulty and comparatively cheap to replace.
Suspect I'm in a similar boat with a failing HRM.

I thought the forecast had gotten it wrong 'cause the wind was still.pumping early morning ... not often that the wind drops during the day.
