Hey Spidey check it out here :- http://www.flatdogs.co.za/rietvlei.htm Basically a 6-7k XC course within the farm, 10bucks entry. Quite a bit of technical riding! Good fun. Nice cause it's just 5k's from my house.

GO - you probably right since Flatdogs is a very MTB orientated club. My son LittleBen just joined LPCC as he is wanting to focus some more on road this year. That doesn't mean he won't be giving it stick at the usual MTB races of course !!!!!

Hey Jules didn't mean to offend! I took it from them as they intended in jest at the time, keeping in mind one of their team cars helped us out along the way no problem. Many here will know that I come from a road riding / Iron Man triathlon back ground but have 'migrated' to MTB as that is my son's favoured discipline. And in fact it irks some that I still maintain that the purest form of cycling is riding a road bike at high speed in a bunch with each knowing his place and it just flowing along (beside the TT which I guess will remain the 'race of truth'!).

Was told at the Midvaal vets tour 2 years ago that when you have a problem (flat, fall whatever) is when they attack .......... damn roadies!!!!!

Anyone have a GPS track for the Braamfontein Spruit MTB ride? I heard there's a route of about 26k that can be ridden.

Happy now that I decided to have my wheel built with black spokes again rather than have a silver spoked rear and black front or having to lay out the money to rebuild the front also with silver. Will also pass the info on to the said person so as not to perpetuate this myth any further ..............

But my assumption is that you only have black spokes !!!!!! That doesn't count. Byron broke 1 silver at SabieX and I had a broken black spoke before I went and one at the event but I am told that was for a different reason. Seems the wheel wasn't built all that well the first time round. Ja what to think? The wheel has been re-built with new black spokes and a new freewheel so I guess I'll be faster now ................

Heard a comment recently 'silver spokes are stronger than black', any scientific truth in that I wonder? I believe the person due to his experience but 'scientifically' could there be?

Hey all, some may remember that I used to keep the Fladogs MTB club website up to date with XC race info, results and photos up till the beginning of this year. Unfortunately due to a number of reasons I have not done that this year (new job, concentration on Drifter stuff etc.). But ............ we will be doing the XC stuff again this year and I have been able to organise facilities to provide the updates again.
