  5. So before I commit myself to a lost cause is it possible to have a stripped thread in this area of a brake caliper repaired? I have heard things like 'heli-coils' and 'sleeves' mentioned in passing but no definite yes or no. Anyone know if it can be done? Where in the Centurion area perhaps? Any idea how much? Thanks Ben
  6. It belongs on an MTB perhaps with camelbacks etc..............
  7. Hey Mints I did think the 'at times' qualification of that statement put it in context This is a man who as I believe BigH once said of that he could probably 'weld wood'
  8. Spidey ek hoor die boere al begin kla our die miellies ........
  9. Ah but personal vendettas/name calling/insinuations etc. are the way of the hub these days not so ......... I have noticed more and more old regulars not bothering anymore (anyone remember the many amusing and even at times very informative Dirt-Rider posts ....).
  10. WW - bit too late for me unfortunately! Saw them for the first time this morning although we ride out to the Lido but go right at Kibler park garage up to the T-junction and back on Wed and Fri normally. Guess we normally get their later, I was early this morning and did that ride cause my other training partners stayed in bed (lazy gits!) Seemed rather serious to me though, I passed them as I was in a bit of a hurry and 2 guys raced up to and then passed me, I caught them again and made a, what I thought at least to be, humorous comment but neither even blinked! Race (sorry training) faces on perhaps
  11. Anyone ride in that bunch this morning .................
  12. Reminds me of a true story, a 7 or 8 year old girl sitting with a German Shepherd on a leash watching her mom playing tennis. A good mate of mine walks up to her and says I bet my dog can beat yours, she promptly replies 'it probably will cause we don't beat ours .....'
  13. Flip HR you are taking some stick today! Ok so as to make you feel better 'George' said they were like a pair of nectarines in a jar!
  14. Brake = slow down Break = what happens to your bike or parts thereof when it has a sudden stop against something Class over .........
  15. And not to put to fine a point on it but I was faster round the Fountains XC course on my S-works HT than my Epic, but I would still rather ride my Epic at SabieX than a HT .............. BigBen2008-02-13 02:41:24
  16. Zas I doubt you've ever worried about the weight limit of any cycling component .....
  17. ...... with a chainring protector only BG (been a while ....)
  18. We put a set of those bling alligator discs on LBB's S-works hardtail before the fountains national. They do look the dogs you know whats in that gold colour! He reckons that braking is pretty much the same as with the original Avid ones. I have also put some of the silver ones on my S-works (160 back and 180 front), not so concerned with bling! I also find braking pretty much the same but the rear makes a wierd noise, not enough to bug you though! Having said that the Avid original wavy ones also tend to sound a bit like a turkey ........
  19. Just don't take holy as your team mate he's fragile...... but as an encouraging spectator i wasn't too bad! not to mention freelance pharmacist I would suggest HR that you take more than 1 bike for the next 24 hour (just in case!), and we know you do have more .........
  20. I never see anyone else doing hill reps there, plenty coming down the hill but that's about it. Have thought about going left but time is of the essence.
