  1. Thug - I'm available tonight! Sure we can catch him distracted while he re-installs the tubeless on that Continental from 1998 onto that Alex '97 buckled rim that he recently welded the hub back together with a few beers at his side
  2. Farmers? I guess you mean Saturday! No only rode the 'obviously' not problematic sections.
  3. Holy Roller - actually me and little Ben just out for a lekka easy Sunday morning stroll then this evil bunch appears from nowhere and just sucks us along. Only to find me and him doing lots of work (voluntarily!). Just so happens that I see the mean dude all decked out in dark kit on that black Cannondale of his, Ewep you see! Then it got ugly! There was a Southern Cycling chap riding in the front in fact most of the way, flippin strong, didn't actually need us to help him, there was 2 pace lines, he pulled one and a whole lot of us pulled the other.
  4. MuXman - pity we missed having a chat! Was a bit hard out front there after we rode 60k's MTB on parts of the Walkerville course Saturday. Little Ben hardly broke a sweat but I was on the rivet there once or twice but did enjoy it.
  5. Saffa G - no problem, couple of words but a big difference in meaning! Ouch!
  6. As I have mentioned previously the other TCS riders are equally helpful (Zaskar helped my son lots at winter challenge!).
  7. Donated a pump once but more my own fault than the lady recipients! Passed a lady at Induna struggling with a puncture, now unlike DirtRider (who would have stopped and converted her wheel to tubeless quickly!) I am not nearly as chivalrous! Asked what she needed and she asked for a pump (u not o!). I quickly whipped mine out of my C/back and gave it to her! Said 'I'll get it at the finish'. We couldn't stay very long after so left before she had finished. I got over it and bought a spanking fancy shiny new one!
  8. I have said it before (and I'll say it again!), triple chain rings, sloping top tubes and camelbacks belong on MTB bikes! OK OK so I will concede on the sloping top tubes! Triple chain ring? Well back in the day when I did 10 Iron man Canoe triathlons with a double (52/42) and a 7 speed cluster (11-21) it seemed to be enough gears (even for Hekpoort)! These days everyone has at least a 39 with 25 at the back (junior gearing if you ask me), bunch of pansies! Yes I do have a double with 39/53 and an 12-25 on my RB, gotta go with the lates trends (but still no triple ya see!).
  9. Hey Homer - looks mean with all that black and just bits of yellow/red! Hope you have many happy safe miles on it.
  10. Had an interesting situation with my Garmin HRM belt recently. Stopped working but I noticed a build up of 'salt' I assume from sweat. Gave it a nice scrub with a soapy nail brush and Bob's (or whoever it may be!) your uncle! I always just pour a bit (yes just a bit, none ever has run down to my .... nether regions!) of water on each conductor before putting it on and it works (Polar, Garmin and Timex).
  11. MWNN - That's for sure! Didn't someone say it looked like a plastic bag got caught in those hubs? These are much nicer.
  12. You can never be too Specialized !!!!!!!!!!!
  13. casci - nope we got e-mail problems! SMS or PM me.
  14. Must agree that it was an awesome route. Loved the single track, best I've ridden in a long time. And it's in my back yard! But like others have said in some cases you risk life and limb if riding there at any time other than official race day. DR - you can't resist a pretty girl with a mechanical failure can you? I offered to leave you any 'tools/spares' you needed but all you wanted was company!
  15. Marius - in my case the hairstyles can come back, don't have much hair to worry about! But to see my laaitie with an afro or mullet now that would be a sight to see!
  16. Thanks, might just help me this weekend! I had a puncture at Winter challenge and put in a tube. I want to remove the tube and redo the tubeless this weekend. Will keep this tip in mind!
  17. Just giving the big guy some stick! But also wondered how long they gonna be out for as per my earlier post.
  18. Ewep - Word wakker boet, wat meer wil jy weet? Of weet jy nie waar Wendell se winkel is nie? Panorama - Cycle hub
  19. Hey, also from that area. How long you gonna be out for?
  20. I heard that was downright abuse as opposed to what Giant may term 'normal' use!
  21. - Auk (borrowed from Ewep again!) sorry! Won't do it again, hydrolic is also ok!
  22. DR - hydrolic, is that someone who spends a lot of time in the toilet? Hydraulic I guess!
  23. Uuuuuhhhhhmmmmmm MichH - not to put to fine a point on it but you're sick and should be home in bed! Go now!
