  1. 'Just wait a bit before starting to apply decals and building it' .... seriously dude? But OK let's see how long I can hold out [emoji851] Sadly the 29x1.75 slicks I've fitted to the wheels are too wide (fine in the fork but not the rear), I do have some 700x38's I'll fit tomorrow. They should be good!
  2. And that is that! Now on to more important matters, got a bike to build [emoji41] My wife is very impressed and happy and that's all that counts [emoji12]
  3. TimesLIVE: Mystery solved: what that fighter jet is doing on top of a building in Sandton. https://www.timeslive.co.za/sunday-times/lifestyle/2021-02-16-mystery-solved-what-that-fighter-jet-is-doing-on-top-of-a-building-in-sandton/
  4. Bloody hell sanding is hard work but rather rewarding I guess ... won't be taking on a project like this again soon! Stain and varnish in the next days then done [emoji12]
  5. OK painter will start his magic tomorrow, my mate is working on the vinyl art work... Less MonsterCross and more 'RoadPlus' (description thanks to a fellow hubber) Damn I'm impatient when I'm committed and ready to go!
  6. Sitting around thinking about this frame hanging in the garage ... off to chat to my painter mate! Maybe that design but red rather than orange and with white logo ....
  7. I look at all the neat and perfect joints and corners/ surfaces everyone makes and realize a carpenter I certainly am not! This will hold our coffee cups, some magazines and the elusive remotes though. Will do some sanding the next few days, my wife will do the stain and varnish thing after that. Thankfully pallet projects are supposed to look 'rustic and ill fitting' I've heard?
  8. "Just going outside put me at risk of winding up dead or captured. If I let that daunt me, I'd never do anything."
  9. I see you stopped short of mentioning short or God forbid secret socks .... Thankfully!
  10. In my experience if you do a lot of single speed riding it doesn't matter what 'system' you use the chains stretch quicker than you can keep up by adjusting etc. No it doesn't matter what chain ... half link, single speed specific etc. makes no difference. A tensioner whether up or down always looks a bit crappy IMHO and finding a magic gear may sound simple but you can't just replicate some one elses suggestion unless it's the exact same frame and size. Having said that running a magic gear does look cool but there'll be too much slack pretty quick if you ride lots! Just one of those things you need to live with if you have a frame not intended for single speed and even if you did you'd still be adjusting the sliding dropouts ... I'm sure some may even disagree with me but that is MY experience for what it's worth Fortunately I don't ride mine that much anymore so the magic gear suits me just fine and looks good to my mind [emoji41]
  11. I was informed by the 'woke' cyclists that these earthy colors are the new cool?
  12. 'Rain hangs about the place, like a friendly ghost. If it's not coming down in delicate droplets, then it's in buckets and if neither, it tends to lurk suspiciously in the atmosphere' Enough already [emoji19]
  13. Done in between all the rain we having ....
  14. In one of the many 'eco' estates here in the south with a mate
  15. I'm not upset but I certainly wouldn't buy anything from you, but that's probably just me ...
  16. It was all going OK till you mentioned bieber #SMK
  17. Some days you just have to admit defeat and try another day... My mate Thys not at his best today!
  18. Point taken, good on you! Whatever it takes to get more people riding especially road bikes, seems MTB is the go to bike these days ...
  19. Where are you guys riding these road bikes, in the Alps?
  20. 'We can't have that pallet wood just standing around' apparently [emoji849] A headboard for in the spare room used by our granddaughters ... it needs a 'distressed' white look, any suggestions how to get that? I'm not creative at all so please keep that in mind!
