  1. Thanks, WW. My mate also bought a pair so you may even see two of them! I'll let you try them on if you buy me a beer afterwards
  2. Yup, they are the MTB ones. I got a mate of mine to bring them back from London for me, bought them with the ZAR nice and strong and they cost me about R2.2k. Haven't ridden with them yet but they are incredibly light and feel very comfortable. Will let you know how they perform after Van Gaalens on Saturday!
  3. I just bought a pair of these and they are flippin' awesome:
  4. Here is a different opinion that supports running as a good supplement to your riding: http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/01/running-to-supplement-your-cycling-training/
  5. Check if Nat still sells them, I know he used to: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/44812-cotton-cycling-caps-pro-italian-teams-retr

    Spruit crash

I saw the ambulances arriving as I finished my trail run near Fratellis on Conrad Drive, they were hanging around as they had been given GPS co-ordinates, but these were not sufficiently accurate and were actually about 4km away from the scene. Herein lies a lesson for us all, if you ever have a crash make sure the people you are riding with have the presence of mind to get exact GPS co-ordinates off your Garmin to give to the emergency response operator. Another reason its worth it to spend the cash on an Edge 500 or 705, IMHO. Hope Gary makes a complete recovery.
  7. Thug, if you come ride in A bunch there is a serious risk that you and I take the Glenhove offramp 5km into the race and head for Fournos

I've heard that the guys have been working furiously to enhance the route through the Free State. Reckon its going to be a sublime race in 2011... can't wait!
  9. I've got them, and they're awesome. A definite thumbs up.
  10. MaxUmis, I'm really not going to get into a pointless debate with you over this one, but it seems you've missed my point. Our marshals were doing their best to keep the situation as safe as possible, and yes - they did this by shouting for riders to keep left as we came up on their right hand side (apologies again if this seemed rude but its difficult to introduce yourself, get to know each other and then politely ask you to move over when you're doing 60km/h on a bicycle). There was absolutely no pushing that took place. I'm not sure how you think that shouting for riders to keep left and join the bunch on the back, instead of trying to cut their way into the middle, creates risk - when in fact it avoids it. No further comment from my side. As I said in my previous thread, there was no ill intent but only the intention to keep all riders safe. And it must have worked because we all got to Durban safely.

I'm in... this year I entered and broke my shoulder blade in a MTB crash 3 weeks before the race. I plan not to repeat that for 2011
  12. I'd take the Super Six any day...
  13. I could seriously go on for ages about how awesome Chris' service is... I buy from them all the time. Keep it up, Chris.
  14. My Morewood was photographed at Imana Wild Ride 2 weeks ago by the pro photographers, check how cool this picture is (link to their website here)
  15. Very nice! I placed an order on their website about 3 weeks ago, which arrived 2 days later by door-to-door courier. What a pleasure.
  16. Does anyone know, or has anyone tested, whether the new Shimano 10-speed MTB cassettes are compatible with SRAM XX?
  17. I use Garmin Training Centre for Mac OSX (I'm on Snow Leopard) and it works beautifully (so do all the other Garmin software products for that matter).
  18. Hi guys, while riding the road bikes through the east rand yesterday we saw some guys popping out a section of trees alongside the road on their MTB's. Looked like they were having fun, I'm keen to join a bunch out east and ride a new route sometime. If anyone is planning an MTB ride out east anytime soon, please post the details here. Shot.
  19. I only ever use Cajees when I know exactly what I want, and call them to haggle the price down to the cheapest level I can get it to. I would never, ever ask them for advice and I certainly wouldn't ever have any work done on my bikes there. In fairness to them, I just don't think they are equipped to deal with knowledgeable cyclists and feel that their stores are more targeted towards the fun riders and newbies out there. Not that this makes giving poor advice and poorer service acceptable.
  20. Me too, I think its just human nature to be averse to change, but the site looks good. Like Zaskar, I'm just short of time at the moment to use it...
  21. Quick note for those of you that don't follow Damian's Facebook page. He is doing phenomenally well and likely to move out of hospital into the rehab centre this week. He told me today that one of the doctors at the hospital thanked him for renewing his faith, due to the fact that according to all biological and scientific facts, he should be dead. So, while I'm admittedly not the most religious oke in the world, thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers, which seem to have worked
  22. I think Flex may have a different opinion on this... Haha.. quite right, Edman
  23. This picture pretty much sums up my worst crash...
  24. XX on a Lynskey... sounds sweet! Post some pics once you're done.
  25. @mad bout mtb - that is seriously pmpin' dude! @danlate - sweet ride, really like the arcing top tube.
