  1. For R175.00 I'll buy 12 beers and wash my bike myself. It takes around 20 minutes to complete the job. T P.S I'll wash your bike for R175.00 less 10% discount for cash. T
  2. I see all SRAM and RockShox products are no longer listed on CRC's website. Does anyone know what's the buzz? I was about to pull the trigger on a Pike and now it's gone. T
  3. My wife rides a 26" One Twenty and she loves it, I tried to get her onto a newer 27.5 and she refuses to part with her trusty steed. As long as you don't overpay for a 26" I can't see why you won't enjoy your ride. A lot of downhill riders are still on 26ers. T
  4. I also ride with a 2.35 Magic Mary on the front and 2.25 Nobby Nic on the rear. Very impressed with the setup thus far.
  5. I took the 11 tooth out of my XT cassette to add a 40 tooth expander. I have been riding with this setup for over two years without issue. There is a little more clearance between the 12 tooth gear and the chainstay. Gear shifting is 100% and I can't see any damage to the free body with the nut torqued up against the 12 tooth gear. T
  6. I Hope it's returned to you and you shouldn't have to pay to get it back. Tip, I've got a tether on mine and I'm sure I would have lost it by now if i didn't secure it to my bike. T
  7. Final build, well maybe I'll still go 1x11...
  8. Sometimes the invoice on the outside of the package gets displaced. When the package arrives at Customs it doesn't move from there as they need an invoice to calculate your dues. Once you have a sa tracking number and it isn't moving along in the process, try and get an invoice to them. I've had this problem before and it took over a month to arrive in Durban. T
  9. I just paid close to 1k on VAT on my hubs and rims from CRC, pay your dues! SARS are a nice buch of guys if you stay on the right side of them. Like stated above; if you are doing something illegal don't blurt it on the web. If you are importing pay your dues!
  10. I just received a set of Spank Oozy rims and Hope Pro 4 hubs for da Pyga. Once I've had the wheelset built I'll post pictures, man those Hope hubs are a work of art. Magic Mary up front and Nobby Nic on the rear. T
  11. No Expectations, No Disappointments
  12. I bought a pair of these https://www.specialized.com/za/en/shoes/cadet/105705 not too long ago and they are real comfy. There is a rubber section in the sole that you can remove if you want to fit cleats. T
  13. I'm using a da bomb, the externally routed cable up to the switch at the seat post faces up and hence the cable tends to collect grime and water. I keep the cable well lubed and I have replaced the inner/outer once over the past few months. Occasionally I spray some Q20 onto the switch mechanism. I haven't had any issues with it yet, however in retrospect I should have bought a reverb. T
  14. I bought a pair of these https://www.specialized.com/za/en/shoes/cadet/105705 just over a month ago. I've done around 300km since and I'm liking them so far. T
  15. Debatable, I am yet to find a camelbak on the side of a trail, yet I have found countless water bottles, therefor to me it matters. 600 odd grams of fluid hinging on two 5 mm bolts cant be good for your frame bombing down a hill.
  16. The only thing attached to my bike is a GPS and me, I keep my water, spares, tools, etc in a camelback, puncture repair in the handlebar. People fit carbon bars and high spec components to save weight and then bolt on 2kgs of water onto the frame, which makes no sense to me.
  17. It seems we're spoilt here in Durban, I pay R70 a month for 24/7 access to our bike park. There is an awesome bike shop on site and they are always building new trails. Existing trails are fairly well maintained and there is always a cold beer at the restaurant when you arrive back at the car park.
  18. A Merida One Twenty is a good solid bike, if you can get the XT edition even better.
  19. Dont be too sensitive, if you want to hang around here be prepared to take it from all sides. 26 ers are a dime a dozen, and that's really great if you are looking for a good bike. Theoretically there is nothing wrong with them and they still make plenty of people smile everyday. I went from a 26" Silverback Mercury 3 to a Mercury 1 to a 29" Giant Trance to a 29" Pyga 110 in a space of three years, as your skills and fitness levels improve you can quickly out grow a bicycle. I bought my wife a 26" Merida One Twenty XT for 8k two years ago and she loves her bike. Don't pay more than around 8k for a 26er or you'll have a bike for life. T
  20. Firstly stay away from large retail stores that sell recreational beachfront bikes, they are an utter waste of money. You haven't indicated whether you prefer road, mountain biking, downhill enduro type riding or bmx, each of the above disciplines require a different bike, however you could use a mtb on the road or for enduro. Look for a good secondhand bicycle, there is often great deals on the hub. Tell us a little more about the type of riding you anticipate doing and we'll gladly point you in the right direction. T
  21. I hope your daughter is ok? Bicycle is easy to replace. The child must be traumatised? T
  22. I've only ever been able to get hold of them first thing in the morning, I think they open at 7am. T
