  1. Received my Oneten frameset on Monday, just waiting for my build parts to arrive. 2 x10 XT groupset with M8000 brakes. Revelation RCT3 fork 130mm travel Saint pedals Mavic rims with magic mary Dabomb dropper Will look for handlebars, stem and grips on Saturday. Will post a picture once built. T
  2. My MTB only flaunts LBS with proper mechanics, fortunately there are a few real good ones in Durban. There are too many unskilled mechanics in the industry who adopt the philosophy; if a hammer can't fix it, it ain't broken.
  3. I've been hammering my 2013 Trance since I got it. I've even done a few enduros. Sadly I haven't managed to break the frame yet and I'm a phat lad. So, I don't think Giants are inferior, however a new Pyga or Santa Cruz would be nice
  4. Much appreciated, I tried a 190 x 50 and it was about 10mm to long. T
  5. Need help with dimensions of my Giants rear shock. I would like to upgrade to a factory shock and I don't want to source the wrong size. T
  6. Interesting read, whoever did the soldering should go on a basic electronic course.
  7. I can almost guarantee you a fair amount of bicycle frames are manufactured in China. Giant is one and Silverback is another. So are these so called fake frames really fake or are they surplus from the factory and sold on the grey market? I would guess a lot of Specialized merchandise is the same. Made in China and distributed elsewhere. Overruns are ending up on the grey market. T
  8. Place an ad in the "wanted" section.
  9. When my Giant starts creaking I remove the pedals and grease the pedals threaded shaft where they screw into the crank arm with a little copper slip. It seems to work for a few months. T
  10. Where ate the Race Maps and Garmin Files that were to be uploaded 2 weeks prior to the event.
  11. I'm 114kg and I my saddle is a Selle SMP Hell Saddle. I find it comfortable but as they say every arse to his own. I've also used a WTB Rocket with great results. T
  12. Give Browns Drift a go 29°48'29.44"S 31° 1'30.44"E or Buttery Rd 29°48'31.29"S 31° 0'58.04"E if you want uphill training. We often ride it on a Saturday morning.
  13. Using a dabomb dropper, so far so good; much better than the giant contact I had on before.
  14. Ha ha, I always get to wash the bikes. T
  15. Wife and I have entered, it will be our first enduro.
  16. My wife and I will be doing our first enduro on 5 March and we have no Idea what to expect. I'll be on my 29" Trance and the wife on her Merida one twenty. We both have a fair amount of trail experience, rocks, roots, river crossings, bridges etc, mostly Giba routes. It would help if some of the more experienced enduro riders could post some tips and etiquette. We plan to ride at the back of the group and are not too concerned about our times as it will be our first time out. T

  18. If a bearing is lose, there is most likely a spacer missing. LBS probably didn't put the spacer in T
  19. Don't buy crap, cheap steel frame bikes are heavy and have substandard components. Rather buy a good used bike, just wait for a deal to come along or advertise in the Wanted. Rather pay a few rand more now on a decent bike that you won't be ashamed of on your first big ride.
  20. We all know the old saying; if it's too good to be true it probably is... There are some reputable bike shops selling groupsets that have been removed from new bikes where customers have upgraded, however these deals aren't advertised buy shady characters with untraceable contact details.
  21. My 2013 29nr Trance X brake cable is also externally routed. I upgraded to XT when I bought it, so I'm not too sure if the original cable was internal.
  22. Saw this and thought " what is my ex wife doing on bikehub" now that's a real pain in the a$$
  23. There are pros and cons to both. It's a matter of personal choice. I went from a 26" to a 29". At first I found the 29r hard to peddle on the up hills, however I soon became used to the bigger wheels and thoroughly enjoy my ride. I think a 27.5 is a little more agile in tight corners, the 29r rolls better over rocks, stumps etc. Try to ride both before you decide. My wife's friend rides a 279, it has a 27.5 rear wheel and a 29 up front. Quite a nice setup for a lady. T
