  1. Water won't do anything, I did say soap. I'm no expert on forks.. I just stating from my experience of owning same fork for a couple of years and servicing it every 50 hrs. The felt o rings ("dust seals") are always black from dust. I doubt the dust wipers are water proof, they made to keep large dust particles out, not water. But i'm wrong person to ask .. there far more experienced fork guys out there.
  2. The primary dust seals in most forks are actually felt with oil in them... so the more soap you get into the dust seal, the quicker the oil is removed and quicker you have issues. The rubber seals ("Dust wipers") at top keeps the big things out (stones etc) .(well on my fork)
  3. Never think dirty bike is not maintained. I hardly wash my bike, but everything is tip top condition and always tuned. I just can't be bothered to wash it. It gets dirty every day. I've serviced my fork more times than I've washed my bike .......
  4. Sadly .. fell off the wagon with lockdown.... up ~6kg during 4 months of lockdown ... back down 3kg now, so net gain of ~3kg. Slowly working it away again. Why so easy to gain, so damn difficult to get rid of it again
  5. nope .. 0 issues.. shifts as soon as you touch the lever. I've never done anything, I really just add lube as soon as starts making noises or before a longer event. The chain has no buildup .. i use Squirt Lube .. the excess just falls off.
  6. 4500km on my chain so far , cannot detect any wear as yet.. never been washed (not even factory lube removed) , dry lubed when it starts to squeak.. dunno, maybe I don't produce enough power to wear them out
  7. Doubt government would risk banning rugby and soccer again. not like it stopped any soccer events actually .. But if they do again .. Then I can see one massive PPA "group ride" split into 150 small groups happening on the 21st.
  8. Our economy won't cope with another lockdown, It will be tosup of no more country with 50 million people dying of hunger/kiling for food or few extra deaths from covid. I cannot even see people following the rules again if lockdown happens, people need to eat and actually don't give a **** anymroe.
  9. Hi, all , We looking for 2 more members male/female. Around 7.5-8 hr mark.
  10. Happy to join, but my road fixie is >13kg, so won't be fast by any means...Longest i've done on it was 50km MTB race... sure DC will be easier....
  11. also need to add 2 less riders to sacrifice (or have a bad day, which always happen in our team)
  12. Racetec times will be about 45-1hr slower( feedzones are now time and less team members and less resting). Normally people qoute racetec times. My strava moving time was ~45 minutes longer than my racetec time and Strava total time was ~1hr:20 longer than racetec. Our team time was 10 minute faster than my time... (my duty was get the lightweights to 2nd last stop).
  13. Car allowed to follow you from ashton (actually have to), so no need to have extra support people , just feed/drink from the "not moving car"
  14. Just adding to this Make sure you check output rating , some inverters list the input rating, which is about 10-25% more than output depending on quality of unit.
  15. Hi, is it under 6 hrs for the 2019 format or 2020 format (there about 45-1hr difference)
  16. ok, need to jump in here .... restive loads is actually best thing for inverters .. its constant, no spikes. (of course if its in the limits of the true inverter capacity (not the china rating)) I run kettle/geyser/stove/microwave/aircons (inverter type) all of our inverters without any issues as long as its below max ratings. Agree with the fact that the car battery might have taken a knock, but if its a modern car with >100A alternator and car was running it probably would have not done any damage.
  17. completely misread your post .. thought you mean charge direct from panel to battery (something I would do)
  18. Must then go with 2 x 150w ...most panels only push out about 42v at full power with no load 36v battery is charged at 42v, so you need to have more than that available to get it to 42v Mptt don't ramp up voltage, only reduce it. So to get 42v output on the mptt you will need at least 45v input . So with losses you talking at least 2 panels in series with a 36v MPPT this is of course all on the assumption that the intelligence is in the battery itself (all balancing/cut offs etc) (you don't want to overcharge your lithium pack). Also hope there voltage out on the charge points of the pack so MPPT can detect its connected And probably void warranty ... Sounds to much pt .. I would still just buy 1/2 extra packs
  19. 300W panel is MASSIVE..... and you would need 2 as you won't get enough voltage out on most days on single panel to get to fully charged voltage of the battery bank (about 48v), (Most mppt inverters need higher input voltage than output) Probably should ask if Madkon if he/she have space to even carry this charge system in his car/truck/bicycle ;
  20. your 105ah battery will only do 105ah when brand new. pull it lower than 50% a few times then you quickly learn the joys of Lead acid (they don't last). You might get 40ah if you lucky after about 10-20 cycles below 50%. You also not state if this is a normal car battery (made to deliver amps, not capacity) or "deep cycle" battery. I would get a lithium bank as others stated or you will need at least 400ah lead acid bank to keep your source battery to last even a year with regular use. Lithium you will get away with 150ah and last about 5000 cycles. Personally i get a small 800w petrol generator .(or if you have cash, a silent honda generator). they quite enough to run and take up far less space and can be used for many other things as well. Edit: Just go buy 2-3 spare batteries for they bicycle and charge them when you get to power source
  21. lots of teams rested 6 riders till ashton and used the long break there to catchup, then those 6 riders did next stint and others rested till next feed. Wonder what effect the fact that support vehicle allowed to "support" the team from ashton (but not feed them) will have....
  22. I did 5:50 racetec time last year .. Elapsed time was 7:07, moving time 6:35 according to strava. So I was resting for at least 35 minutes. Neutral times ~45 minutes I can probably dig into times more for each feedings neutral, .. but it should give you idea.
  23. Few people with optimistic times on there ... probably don't know there no more time stop at feeding zones and only 45min neutral .. so by default time is ~45min -1hr longer than last few years and recovery is almost nothing as its eat and ride, no sitting around anymore. Add the fact no more sucking faster teams passing (or at all).. its gonna be shocker long day for some..
  24. I had team .. just volunteered to be on the shortlist if to many members.... maybe its a sign not todo it this year.
