  1. Sorry, but climbing hills for seeding is just stupid you end with skinny light weights in top groups that never want to sit in the wind and pull. They should have done circular routes that give all round performance. also, nothing todo with ppa, ractec and ppa is 2 different companies .
  2. Think one should have separate weight gain challenge thread , might be able to post there more often ... sigh
  3. Do Nationals count as seeding event? (genuine question)
  4. There was no main line sponsor.. so if you wanted those, entry fee would have been up even more.
  5. yup, but with 15 penilty
  6. Who did that? Cant be me..
  7. biggest reason i'm hardly on bikehub anymore. you cannot ask question and someone answers with some complete bull**** of topic rant
  8. maybe time to to get more moderators as we now have to wade through all the off topic squabbles.
  9. Some gravel events in Dec as well.. https://www.facebook.com/GTgravelride
  10. Some stats: Seeing I simply don't have energy to code now. 27 Teams finished with all 10 within 10 minutes .. 37 finished all 10, some have 2hrs difference between team and last member. 21 was Open Teams, 6 was Mixed of the 10/10 teams. Fasted 10/10 team; 05:27:12 .. slowest .. 09:37:15 Only 1 female team and 1 tandem team finished....?? Average Race time for everyone : 7:01:13 . 119 Females, 960 Males finished. General DC stats. (according to racetec data).. more or less..(All events with DOuble century in the name) Most DC's finished for a rider/s . 21 (2 off) 20 or more DC's finished => 3 15 or more => 55 10 or more =>335 5 or more => 2181
  11. I take my hat of for the new guys in our team.. We had 3 DC noobs... It was proper intro into mental endurance... there was never a complaint. Never im quitting. Some already said they will be back.... gotta love the DC
  12. I had good laugh at start with the temperature readings... mine was 22C . told lady its wrong, tried scan few other spots and ended at 33.. So i started with severe hypothermia, which definitely helped in the heat later
  13. Some carbon wheels dont have weight limit, most alu wheels is limited at 90kg , so make sure, as others said, to get appropriate wheels till you drop off the extra lbs... its sucks replacing spokes every ride....
  14. we had 15,13 and few 4-6 dc guys/girls..... but ja... probably what makes the DC the DC... each person returns for his/her own reason....
  15. Probably have to agree for race teams reversed order is great, but for the social teams (the bulk) it sucked No vibe at feedzones as everyone long gone. No having some free draft from bit faster groups to boost the spirits... no woosh woosh as top teams speed past.. things that makes the DC and all old timers in our group said they missed the most.... its my 5th DC. First time social riding it. Last year 5:43, this year 9:18.. (official) average power difference only 25%... it does not get easier if you take longer .... If i get asked for social ride again, in this years format... nope, not gonna happen, will definitely do the race thing as one dont care about the rest then.... hope we will have “normal” again soon
  16. Feel your pain, got stung in the ear...... there were lots of casualties, think few teams pulled out completely... the earlier teams says they had no wind, just bit after ashton till turn downwind.,
  17. We snuck in at 10 hrs.. We started late and hit the block wind from op de tradouw.. 37C on the garmins for most of way... 3.5 hrs slower than last year.. but we 10/10 over line all in good spirits
  18. I'm going be that guy .... If you need to ask this, maybe you should think about doing the dc . . . . every single DC my cravings was different at feedzones .. So I stock with water, Game, coke, cookies, droewors, patatoes, bananas, jelly beans and few more things. You never know what you going to crave..... All I can say is .. ALOT of water .. I used 3 bottles last year in from last feedzone. 1 to keep me cool, drank the other 2, that 3 sisters valey gets @#$# hot and they predicting 35C this time, so going to be 40ish in there . EDIT: also .. dont cram ALL your food in at first feedzone cause you did not eat enough on the bike .... 15minutes later you will regret it . . . . seen this to many times at DC with first timers.
  19. Grab, pack car, and go (car must leave with the team)
  20. Did you add the feeding at feedzone 1 ? I see you only included travel time.....sorry, just beeing pedantic. feedzone 2 should be 2.5km as well (15m per team, 150 teams). DC for some reason is always alot slower than expected ., you loose time everywhere. My first DC was longer than I did double Argus in...
  21. https://www.strava.com/routes/11247102 should be failry accurate , otherwise I can try export last year ride for you edit: woops, see you need garmin connect.. don't ahve that
  22. In the feedzone you will be lucky todo about 15km/h .. TONS of people/cars. cyclist . so its 2.5km at average 15km/h, that 10min 10km of neutral , if you do 20-25 average there, you be lucky, road is crap, lots people, narrow lanes, stops etc. I managed 1 year 28km/h, but I was riding like a @#$@ to try catch team after a flat. also add another 2.5km for 2nd feedzone at 10-15km/h (its uphill, slow and lots of cars/people/etc)
  23. Just maybe check, are you going todo 32km/h through the feeding zone at ashton? (don't see it included in your km's). I had quick look, its was about 15km total neutral+feeding zone (I will have to tripple check) and took us 55minutes last year to ride the roadworks, feed zone and feed. We only have 45minutes this year, had 60min last year .. edit: From website: The total neutral time allocated to participants is 45 minutes (Total distance of the neutral zone, including the Team Support Zone, is 12.5km). So its 10km of netural (max 30km/h), 2.5km of feedzone (very slow)
  24. Its easy to test try on your next 2 rides .. just do light super the night before (more salad then meat/pasta), have smaller breakfast than normal, Then have a coffee with 2 spoons of coffee and 2 spoons of sugar (thats ~10G of carbs already) about 30 minutes before (so you have time to visit loo) .. keep the rest of your nutrition on/off the bike the same. (not like you need any nutrition on 1 hr rides). That should give your body a big enough kick to see if makes difference.
  25. What you eating before? Could be that you eating a fatty/high protein "meal" to close to the start which will make everything lazy (blood going to stomach to process food etc)... Try and have only light meals in the leading 12hrs before and just top up carbs with a drink (coke /game/energade etc) or a jell before ride. Since I stop eating pasta/protien the night before , having a small breakfast and stuffing myself with carb drink the hour leading to the ride, I'm alot better from the start and don't have the dreaded 45min into event energy drop
