Hey BL it is always a problem with these sites - you share too much knowledge and then someone copies your ideas. I have spent many hours on the hub following your and ML's (and others) trials with lights. Hey RM, let us know how it feels after removing it. Surely the holes will close eventually - if they expect the bone to grow back together, then the holes should close? Having it taken out is a bit like skydiving - jumping out of a perfectly good plane - here you are having an op on a bionic shoulder? Let us know - thanks

Hey MDK - looks like mine as well, although I do not have the screw (well I have not checked - still to have X-Rays after the surgery). I started today on the IDT, will hopefully get a new helmet and fix up the bike this weekend, then will start slowly. Have you discussed whether you pull the plate or not?

The issue is that you need to have a hanging type. I have a ride-on Thule which has space for a number plate - unfortunately not being portable, I could put it behind any car, so the plate holder that is provided is useless, as then the numberplate would be the wrong car, so you have to have a flexible working arrangement. I wonder if the cops would pick up that the two plates did not match?

Problem is if you are looking at a 29er FS, the local options are limited (as they are in the UK), so you need US - and who admits to knowing people there?

agreed KDEE Suppose that you only buy spares, so no import duties - are you still hit for VAT? The import costs are huge, but as long as you expect them you can bid accordingly. I was looking at a 29er which was not available here, so had no option. The big thing is the import duty on the full bike - maybe I should just look for a frame

shew - the person who pipped me with an hour to go, pulled out so I was winning with 1min left, then in 1 minute, 4 people bid and the price went up $400.... Anyway, I suppose that the way to offset the risk is to buy from longterm sellers on eBay and with positive responses. I battled to get them to allow me to bid as they only allowed US shipping, but explained that with Paypal the risk is not theirs. Anyway - anyone actually done this, as the final price was still in my range if there was no tax

Who can help Just been on eBay looking at some 2nd hand bikes. I know that new full bikes attract an import tax of 30% plus vat - what do 2nd hand bikes get? Was going to bid on one, but the shipping plus the import fee if the same as new made it a bit too high for the risk of importing 2nd hand. So I need to know before I try, as if you are buying a $1k+ bike, it makes a huge difference Thanks Damn - took the worst case option and was just pipped at the end - I live to fight another day

Hi Arraz Did some initial investigation, but now all out of the bigger bikes. Seems like the group is big in Holland, but not known outside. The components are all international, so could be fine, the problem is the lack of reports to base a buying decision on. Even though cheap, still a lot of money. I suppose if you do not like the ride, you can always just get another frame....

Agreed HR SVM (Or anyone else) more nfo on the incident will be greatly received. I ride that section often (with my kids) and would like to be kept informed of the dangers. Would be interested to know more about the incident though - was it a walker / squatter etc Seems I will be joining the groups heading back to the Farm....
