  1. *etc. Sorry, it's been bugging me. yes, I feel better now
  2. It's not one or the other. You cannot have a winner-winner-chicken-dinner if you didn't put in the hard yards. So, it's genetics, and hard work, and determination. How much you have of one determines how much you need of the others.
  3. More ascent than Cullinan, less than Van Gaalens Bit of rock, lots of hardpack, not much sand. Some loose gravel. Personally I don;t think it's anywhere near as technical as Van G's.

  5. Still plenty of time to carbo-load on training beers (Castle lite)
  6. He was probably scared of the roid-rage associated with Cape-Town roadies after that other video surfaced.
  7. Hennie phoned me on Saturday - he's one of the two organizers. One of them organizes the Konka race, the other the Magalies Monster. There's no accommodation or meals in the entry fee, you have to organize that yourself. They are busy organizing shuttles run by one of the local schools, sounds like it will be cheap too. I think best bet would be to camp out at Buffelspoort with a shuttle there and back every day. It's only 25-30km by road (not cycling friendly as I understand) I think we'll organize this as a club weekend - go big on the camping thing with cooks and mechanics and ghillies and shuttles ...
  8. Marafakka that was a lekker race. Thanks everyone that made it happen! Two requests if I may 1) The lady photographing under the road bridge right at the start - please tell me you got a photo of me airing over that steel bridge and that you'll share it 2) The guy with the camera behind me, plz send me the link to the vid where that poor piccanin ran under my bike. Turns out he's fine (guy on quad went to double check for me)
  9. %GreatWCStory - thanks for sharing Hayley!
  10. I've contacted the organizers, will post details if I get them. Route profiles and maps (In pdf .... sheesh) http://www.cycleevents.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/20140613085643167.pdf For R800 I'm not expecting much, but hopefully that includes accomodation (as it's at three different venues - Buffelspoort, Konka and Brauhaus (yes you only need to sleep at Konka) but would be nice to stay over the night before. Very keen on doing it, it has a 'Sabie Experience' from long ago vibe ....

  13. Also dropped from B (in trailseeker) to C ... not that I'm complaining in any way shape or form. It's Fun Gaalens, it's Nationals, I just want to hang on and maybe survive Wessel can you check Christiaan Kotze and Charmaine Kotze seeding for me plz? They haven't received theirs yet
  14. Waking up with a bad back and having to ride over graspolle Cutting my front tire wide open at 30km/h Daydreaming (because I didn't want to go fast after going OTB with the flat) and going OTB again. I had two falls last year. Those were them.
  15. How about this month's votes? It seems quite suspicious .... I cast my votes, and it didn't show in the numbers? Who's rigging votes?
  16. Ooh ooh ooh .... is the half marathon route guys getting the floating bridge from last year?
  17. Nope. Nickc 01:57 GC 165 Soz
  18. We're riding form the Maniyaks Shop there, then race, then back 1. Maniyak Cycles shop, Montana Value Mart 2. 17:00 and 19:00 every Thursday Night 3. North next to Molotto Road, into the Buffelsdrift Bewarea. Some singletrack and climbs 4. 35km to 40 km per loop 5. First loop is a Hammerfest - pace up to 27km/h. Second loop is chilled night group ride, no drop always wait, pace around 20km/h max. Coffee afterwards at the shop. 6. First loop is C for Serious, second loop is not so serious.
  19. Mmmm ... Glad he's ok, those tikkoppe obviously had no clue what'swhat. Rider had a very good chance to ride away right at the start. Had a very, very clear shot for a left hook as the tikkop grabbed his handlebar with his gun hand, the TK in white was far enough away to not pose an immediate threat ... but I see he was armed as well.
  20. TooTall - that was the diea, yes. Guess they forgot to tell the medal-hander-outers about it ... again. Great idea, cool initiative, but worse execution that the pamphlet bags IMNSHO.
  21. I'm with dikkes. Slam it down (unless you cruise around town and want to see over cars ...)
