  2. argh! That suuucks, dude. Glad you're "okay" though.
  3. IMO that's bullshittery of the highest order. May as well not eat pasta 'cos the Italians has Mussolini.
  4. loving all the different approaches to air management.
  5. Was sure I've seen them at Suzuki South. Trakmak (sp?) may also have them...
  6. My OH is currently at a bridal fair in Canal Walk. 9 to 9. So unless I take the lightie up, and he's not quite ready for a lion's head ascent...
  7. Need to get up there, first Will take the 6d and 16-35, most probably. Also the 70-200.
  8. I'd really like to get a wide shot of the peninsula from teh top of Lions Head, as it's going dark. Print it on perspex and mount it somewhere in the house. Oh BTW - my wife has just had some prints done on perspex. OMFS. We've got mostly canvases and what they call "shadow mounts" at home, but the perspex is amazing with the way it just gives the pics a bit of extra pop and vibrance. Especially the darker tones. Wow. Not cheap, but worth it IMO. One thing it doesn't like, though, is high light environments. Diffused light, okay. But direct / bounced light - no.
  9. Hahahahahaha! Trust me, you'll need lunch. Just to give your hands something different to hold on to
  10. Subject to exchange rate fluctuation (so it'll be cheaper now) but yes. Duane's & Karl's sideline business. Pretty much the only thing not included is lunch and beer. Cos the mutzig is crazy...
  11. This was from yesterday. Missed it, for some reason The update on Barry McCallum will not be as detailed today. I have yet to speak to the doctor and am loathe to give out details until I do. He had his "clean-up" operation, his second operation since he was admitted on Monday. My mother was there when he came back and said she had been told it went well. Work meant I could not go through to the east. Being unemployed means I have to write as much as I can. The ICU staff told us we would not be able to communicate with Barry, that he would be doped up all day and unable to speak. They gave us a day off. A terrible thing to say, but, Christ, I needed it. The boys took the time to visit friends from school. I worked at home and watched people trim huge trees in my garden in the rain. Life moves on. Barry moves with it. He would have told us to enjoy ourselves, but just to leave some smokes and a coke and a straw. His throat is dry. He cannot speak. He has a ******* big tube down his throat. I cannot think of anything worse. It haunts me. Hopefully it will be out by the weekend, when he can swallow. I told my mother we had been told not to visit today, but her memory is wonky these days, and she went to the Glynnwood. She has become befuddled. She called me at 6am concerned at the slew of SMSes she had received from near and far. Was Barry okay, she asked. For those who know and love my mother, her faculties have begun to wane. Your messages of support are wonderful, but she struggles with context and memory. Please contact me for updates. Barry has lived another day. He has no infection, his organs are soldiering on. I will see him tomorrow. I will be at Grapes at some time. I am not sure when. Perhaps noon, perhaps just after. There will be group hugs and silly talk, and, most importantly, talk of Barry and the life he lived and is fighting to live.
  12. One thing I have to say - the packaging is brilliant. Got the Core light myself.
  13. FWIW the neighbours and several other people are helping with the dogs. He has a VERY large network of friends. From Kevin: Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It has been a surreal four days. I am spending today at home, supervising tree trimmers and trying to do some work. Also, I need the distraction of being away from Barry for a while. Seeing him in the state he is in is heartbreaking.A friend is setting up a gofundme thing for Brian. As soon as I have details, I will send them on to you.Kevin
  14. Grrrrrrrr. Melawood. I desperately need a new kitchen. But finances, man.
  15. From Kevin: I'm in the ICU with Barry Mccallum. The operation yesterday was a success, but they had to take off more skin than they originally thought. He essentially has no functioning skin on his back and his arms are quite badly burnt, as are his buttocks. It is likely he will have another operation this week. He is heavily sedated and his kidneys are kept going via a dialysis machine. There are many machines that go ping in his ward. They go ping more often than I would like, and there are furious pressings of buttons. His blood pressure, temperature and food are regulated by those pings. The doctor won't commit to a final prognosis now, but his recovery will take months. He is still fighting for his life. There is nothing certain. She has been impressed by how strong he is and how hard he is fighting. The staff at the Glynnwood ICU have been quite amazing. Kind, professional, compassionate and, most importantly, honest. No false promises, no fake hope - just truth and a hand to hold. The head of ICU at Glynnwood is Liam Brannigan. He is a CBC Boksburg old boy. My mother looked after him when he was in after care at the school. I think she many have given him the odd clip around the arse if he misbehaved. She will see him tomorrow morning. They are restricting visits to close family only. So, apologies to all who would like to see him. He's in a dangerous stage of the process. Infection is the main danger now as they tend to his wounds. I have set up an HQ at Grapes. It is down the road from the hospital. I won't be there all the time, but it is easier to talk there rather than in the cold, rush of the hospital. Thanks again for all your thoughts. It has been overwhelming.
  16. Must admit, I also clapped for that landing of the 10.
