  1. No, that's not what you're saying. You're saying that one design is intrinsically better than all others, due to 2 very specific reasons - Solid rear triangle & shock position. What I'm saying is that you cannot say that. It's not that simple. There may be a demonstrable difference in the stiffness characteristics between the Silverback and, say, a Spaz, due to the solid rear triangle and how it's constructed, but in that solid rear triangle they have (relying on the seatstays to flex during shock compression) they're giving up a bit of sensitivity in the suspension stroke. Something that is important for both ascending technical climbs as well as descending. Incidentally, this design is more or less the same as Giant's STANCE - their BUDGET Trail bike. If simplicity were the answer to everything, we'd all be riding Oranges or Santa Cruz Butchers. Ultimate simplicity, single pivots with no fuss. Just relying on pivot positioning to get the desired suspension performance. But it's not. The EVIL line of bikes, for all their complication (despite being a single pivot bike) are hailed as one of the best performing bikes on the market. Then the SB5c and SB6c (yeti) also hold the same praise, but perform in a different way to the Evil. 2 very different suspension designs, yet both cream of the crop. Then you have the Spaz enduro - the game changer of the last 4 years, largely hailed as the single bike that changed what a niner could be, and remains one of the stalwarts of the enduro bike field. You're going to have to bring a lot of data to this fight in order to convince us that the SB design is better than anything else - and that's what you're claiming.
  2. Even though I won't use it nearly as much as the price tag would warrant, that's one bit of tech I reaaaally want to get hold of.
  3. I have to agree. I curse every time I bring mine (exact same one as Jimmy is considering) out of the cupboard
  4. For 2k though.... Yeah, I'd go for the adendorff one even though it's more. That bigger table really is a major positive. Other than that, I'd recommend trawling the Gumtree ads for some deals. Will probably be an older belt drive type, but FAR more versatile and better quality. Again though. If you're using it for the odd job here and there and don't mind spending more time to set up for each cut (and checking tolerances between cuts for repeat work) and being meticulous in the setup, one of those will serve you well.
  5. It has a bigger table (MAJOR positive) and I struggle to see how it could be more *** than the ryobi TBH. Apart from that, you're not going to get a good tablesaw for less than 8 to 10k.
  6. If you don't mind resetting it every time you make a cut, checking the blade angle at all times and a guide rail that you need to triple check, then it'll serve you okay. If you're gonna use it every day then it'll drive you mad. For 2k though, it's bloody good value
  7. Depends entirely on the exchange rate at the time of purchase as to how the local price would be.Purchase in this case means the date at which the bikes landed in the country and / or Spaz SA was invoiced.
  8. WTF? Are those proposals, or ACTUAL buildings?
  9. Yeah, I get ya. Brooms are what - 20mm? 32mm should be okay, surely? And the prices that the lumber yards ask for those thicker "dowelling rods" is just
  10. Yeah, look - the Camber is a fantastic bike, and currently Giant's only answer is the new Anthem. But ito the spec you get for the price... VERY hard to beat the big G. Unless you get the spaz at a clearance sale, when they go for STUPID prices.
  11. Try one of the farm supply stores. They do a 32mm wooden pole for about R 40 for a 2m long section or so, used to extend the tool handles. At least they do down here. Agrimark / Agrinet etc.
  12. Ouch. I like Ohlins, carbon rims, eagle & a full carbon frame together with guide RS carbon brakes as much as the next person... but fro R 62.500 more than the expert... No fanks. And the Expert's pricing really does show what good value the Giant is. R 70k or so, with better brakes (okay, Guide R vs XT so sorta the same) and XT vs X1 (same points) but with their carbon rims and with Fox Factory level suspension. That's R 12k - R 17k less than the stumpy (at 15:1 & 14:1 for the USD)
  13. It's the fastest circuit on the calendar, and the commentators were saying that it definitely suited the Duc's. But I suspect there's a bit more to it than that, and they may have sorted out their tyre management issues a bit.
  14. yeah. Same. Thank goodness my lightie was asleep at the time.
  15. BLOODY supersport feed kakked out with 2 laps to go. FFS.
  16. With our patented Live Touch ®© technology, you'll never be confounded by your dumb screen again!
  17. They don't come in pixie size, unfortunately... But yes. Agreed fully
