  1. This being of particular importance... "20-year old Hatherly will be competing in the Pro Elite Men’s Cross Country Mountain Bike race on Sunday, 21 August 2016. Hatherly is currently ranked 10th U23 Men in the world and achieved a 17th position finish (U23 Men) in the recent UCI MTB World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic." To do that, you have to be FLIPPIN quick.
  2. Nope. Won't work. There's the kink in the frame where the rocker sits. My 150mm dropper (on the large frame) sits about 2cm proud of the seat tube at max insertion.
  3. He's a really, really talented rider. Better than those okes at the moment and has performed brilliantly in the local series, as Karma has pointed out. Deserves to be there, he does.
  4. That looks about right for the amount of insertion you can get on the medium frame with a 125mm dropper. So - just how much do you need it to go down by? There are a few options you can consider Remove padding from saddle Get a saddle with a shallower rail-to-top measurement (so it's more slimline) Thicker pedals Shorter cranks (down to 170's or 165's - will shorten the saddle to pedal measurement when the pedal is at the bottom of the stroke) Run it externally (maybe, I dunno if this will allow it to go in any further) Don't release it all the way to the top when you raise the saddle (it is an infinite adjust seatpost after all) Get yourself a rack and 4 horses Hang from the rafters by your feet for an hour a day Put extra innersoles in your shoes
  5. if you're looking for that, then you'll have to wait for the individual companies to release that data, test it yourself, or wait for someone else to test it. Pinkbike is a good place to start. That, or email Rotor and ask them.
  6. same as the stuff we get at builders and Airton timbers... very well dried and stored.
  7. BRILLIANT. How is that "too far" Huh? Huh? But... making my lightie one of these later this month. http://www.homeharmonizing.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Space-optimising-suspended-loft-bed_1.jpg
  8. You don't NEED their fancy new chainring. That's simply an additional level in the chain retention stakes. If AB says that their rings work with Eagle, then they work with Eagle. They're an established company that would not make that claim without having first tested it out themselves.
  9. was contemplating getting some galvanised piping and fittings myself, but then thought WTF am I thinking..
  10. Oh, look - ANOTHER outdated suspension design...
  11. Reciprocating saw. And unfortunately the days of free pallets seem to be gone, with all this "upcycling" getting popular and all that. Often see them advertised at upwards or R 60 per pallet.
  12. I'd go this way as well. FAR easier to work with and it's strong.
  13. Sweet. Can you not sew a little pocket / enclosure on to the swat-wrap thing, that is just big enough to hold the awl & plug inserter tools? Doesn't need to be pretty, and an old pair of jeans / riding shirt / canvas would do the trick pretty well. Then the plugs themselves can go in with the tube, or in an internal enclosure that you can sew on to the piece that backs onto the tube...
  14. I AM SOOOOO DOING THIS when I re-do my kitchen.
  15. Takes a while to get it to a level where it's all uniform size and shape, but the differences in finish between planks can lend it a nice overall appearance

  17. Whaaaaaat!? I need a new saddle, and that would be perfect. Thanks for the heads up!
  18. yeah. X9 type 2. And before you ask, the chain was optimal...
  19. must say that on my previous reign (reign x) I had a raceface narrow wide and x9 combo and I dunno if it was me, but I constantly dropped on the way down Tokai. I think it was a combo of the profile of the teeth (more rounded than any of the others) and just me being an idiot.
  20. XT equivalent is the X1, but the GX is identical in almost every way and just a tad heavier. Can't say I'd notice the difference against X1. Just get the XT cassette or the NX cassette so that it fits your existing freehub. Oh, and I'd take SRAM over shimano every day of the week.
  21. I'll give you my experience on my Reign and narrow wide with both SLX & GX. First narrow wide was a Praxis, now I'm on a Kalbo elliptical narrow wide. Not one drop yet. Contermanskloof, Hoogekraal, Jonkershoek, Paarl, Blackhill, Nixon's, Steilte, Simonsberg, Dirtopia... Actually, no - I lie. I had a chain drop in the Dirtopia enduro earlier this year when a stick got lodged between the chainring and the chain.
