  1. It really is a beautiful drive. Apart from the tunnel bit, but hey. Sacrifices
  2. 5 hours of Coetzenburg and G Spot. Forgot how much fun a long travel hardtail can be, but now I'm toast. Shower and bed I think.
  3. Not sure about that eh. Apart from the 35mm dropper and the carbon bar, not much difference. XX1 vs xtr, both RS1, raceface next sl crank vs xtr (point in favour of the pyga on that one) and then both have carbon rims... Apart from that and the SWAT system, there's just a case of sram vs shimano.
  4. Morewood have lost a LOT of cred from a support perspective lately, and haven't pumped out a new bike in a while, so that's not really surprising. That doesn't mean that Pat doesn't know what he's doing. When he was at MW it was a different story entirely. Now he's at pyga and doing super work.
  5. Yep. If I had the cash I'd surely consider the PYGA. If my name hadn't been down for the new reign I'd have driven up to PE to buy that large Pascoe in the classifieds...
  6. Morewood not on the world stage!? Bahahahahaha! Go to Europe and you will see otherwise. Their pedigree was very well earned, until Pat left. You'll also notice that since that time, MW haven't really made any new bikes. The passion went to PYGA.
  7. EEEEK! Stay away. Try get hold of a Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt... 66 deg HA and 120mm travel. Recently voted as amongst testers favourite bikes in the Bible of Bike Tests. That, or a PYGA 120 / 110.
  8. It's exactly as you say above in your other post. Being set SO stiff that he doesn't lose any momentum when he lands or hits the tech stuff. But it takes a LOT more to hold on when they're set like that. Plus the stiffer setup allows him to put a higher percentage of his power down (less being lost to the travel) and he just skips over things where others got bogged down. I think. That's what I saw. I mean, at that one tabletop type jump near the bottom, where everyone was landing to flat and sorta bogging down - he just carried on at the same speed. Besides that though - he was just MEGA fast.
  9. Gwin runs far higher pressures than pretty much everyone else on the circuit. Meant he could float over all the chunder on the floor... But the trade off is that you need to be able to hold on. One HELLUVA physical ride.
  10. Erm... Ja. Everything in this thread, really. Subjectivity overload shall commence in 3,2,1...
  11. First segment is Conters, 3:20 - 3:55 is G Spot, then up to 4:15 is *I think* The Glen (Top of Kloof Nek going down towards C Bay - Illegal trail); 4:15 - 5:15 is Old Jonkers (DH Line, Canaries, never ending etc) and from then I think it's a mix of Meerendal and G, with a bias towards Meerendal (the view from the top as he's winding down the ST is definitely Meerendal)
  12. Sweet. That makes it much easier, and shows just how close the price in $ is to our local price.
  13. Waaaaaay off the mark, Zilla. You're quoting me whilst looking at the wrong post... 15.4% VAT on a frame (duty-less item) Plus the dollar RETAIL price is $ 2,099 - Distributor price will be way below that, I can assure you. At the dollar where it is now (let's just say 12.5 to keep it simple) you're looking at an RRP of R 29,914.74 incl VAT for the frame Which is, if you look carefully, the same price that Nico is quoting. Plus, I wasn't querying Nico's calcs. If you look properly, I was querying the cost of DM's contact at the agents saying that the frame only was R 37k. I was saying that THAT was cheeky... Nico's pricing is way closer.
  14. Yeha. Taking my example of the YT Capra CF Comp 2 @ EUR 3,499 incl vat @ 20% EUR 3,499 sale price / 1.2 = EUR 2,915.83 = price for international customers EUR 2,915.83 + 15% (Duty for full bikes) + 14% VAT = EUR 3,822.66 Add shipping of ~ EUR 300 = total EUR 4,122.66 EUR 4,122.66 @ 13.95 ZAR / 1 EUR = R 57,511.07 And you can add R 1,524.04 to that price for the Comp 1.
  15. One thing - is US Sales Tax incl in that price? Cos that woul dhave to come off... That's one thing to bear in mind when ordering from the international okes such as Canyon and YT and Rose etc...They all have EU VAT incl in the price, which hovers around 20%... so before you work out the landed price and duties etc you need to divide by 1.2 to get the pre-VAT price, and work from there.
  16. Vs 47 for my new carbon reign... and there's gonna be a bit of a deal on that due to eft etc
  17. Bloody Hell, that's a bit of a cheek when considering the dollar RRP.
