  1. Yep. Was talking to Haylett this PM (bike is in for a full pivot & shock service) and he was telling me about an MTB coach who took her bike in for a service after the Epic. He looked at it and said "you do realise you're going to need new stanchions" WHAT? It's only 3 months old!? Well, how often do you ride? 10 hours per week.. Erm, that's 120 hours. PLUS Epic. Ever hear of maintenance?
  2. Listen to v12 and vettes. Go to your doctor. ASAP.
  3. Bullcrap. Less gumpf on the bars, less complexity, better chainring clearance in tech situations. Easier to find a gear that works. Less cabling, and you're pretty much guaranteed to retain the majority of your ACTUAL utilized gear ratios if you're clever about your chainring choice. Both 2x10 and 3x10 offer an amazing amount of crossover. 1x10 is less suited to those who use their granny all the time, but 1x11 is the way forward.
  4. That's what they were. Pedal powered with a 9kg battery pack powered motor attached to the cranks. Only works when pedal power is applied. And it was controlled much like a jet ski throttle, with a little flappy paddle.
  5. When they're here again, won't you give me a shout as well?
  6. I'll also never go back to 3x or 2x. I'm on 1x10 with 34t ring and 11-36. I'll probably change the cluster for one with a 42t, but for the moment I'm just carrying on with the plod, and I can ride everything I want to without much trouble. Yes, a 42t at the back would be awesome for those loong ass climbs (I'm talking longer than 3km, with an ascent of more than 300m, which is pretty much what Tokai is to level 4) but even then I'm not in granny all the time. Another thing is that my shifter is currently doing service as my dropper post actuator, and I can't convert it back to being a shifter. Which is also why I'll not go back to 2x
  7. Sweet. Looks very much like a whyte, but I remember marin made them similar to whyte. Shot

  9. Nothing! JK. They go new for 400 or so. Just looking at various options that are available. Thoughts?
  10. Does anyone have an Aeropress that they're willing to offload for a (not so high) price? Really getting the moer in with sub standard plungers that let all manner of gumpf through their filters.
  11. I did chortle at "angrier than a man with a fork in a world of soup" though... Another classic Warnerism. And Claudio's crash at the SAME PLACE as he crashed last year!? "this is where I crashed last year, and OH! I did it again!"
  12. Yeah, i know. It certainly changed the way my bike behaved. Lyrik = 40mm offset. Marzo = 46mm.
  13. nu nu nu negative. Meetings and then admin. Gotta have a fresh supply. Maybe I should just plumb an espresso machine to my desk. Instant brew. No getting up. JAVAJAVAJAVA

  15. ]Just one. But supercharged. 2nd one in the pot. JAVA!!!!
  16. Claim allegiance to some clan or something. Muttering to himself There Can Not Only Be One in deliberation over his aversion to the unibike dilemma Strange boy, that
  17. Ooooh. One 40. That's the one I'd go for, personally. But the 120 is a helluva capable bike, with a recommended fork length of up to 140mm
  18. Not from Somerset West. And business express is the only one I'd take.
