  1. I use my garmin ant+ strap with my note 3. No dongles. But I must say, that new garmin is looking mighty fine, especially with the ability to receive smart notifications!
  2. Ja boet, but the thing is - what do you ride? A crest wouldn't last 5 minutes in tokai, contermans, jonkers or anywhere else I ride. I jump anything I can, and generally dozer through rock gardens - hopping them when I can. Much rather have a set of flows under me than crests
  3. No - go for the Silverback Alpine. Fork is FAR better (Recon Silver Air vs a Merida branded Suntour XCR) and the rest of the parts are on par. Although - the Merida is a medium, which is more your size. You'll be a bit stretched out on the Large, unless you swapped the stem out for a far shorter one (the one on there looks like a handlebar itself) You're on the cusp of medium / large so it may actually work for you. But ito parts spec, the Silverback takes it. Smack a short stem (40 - 50mm) on there and it may be great for you.
  4. If you're still looking for a place to stay, and the wife ismt already employed in s West, I'd do as DJR has suggested, or rather go to the southern suburbs (tokai, bergvliet, Plumstead etx) as your commute in will be along far better routes. From s west there just isn't the bike lane infrastructure - yet - And the business express train (the only one I'd use) doesn't allow you to bring your bike on. My vote - blouberg / tableview / milnerton / sunset beach area. Brilliant links into the city and a really nice place to live.
  5. Flats for the win!!! So good to see Hill on the top step again!
  6. Short answer - no, it won't. The float isn't nearly as adjustable as the Reba, with their CTD technology. First, check the spacing of the fork by taking it to your LBS (as helpmytrap says) and then adjust the positive air pressure (with neg at zero) to your desired setting, then inflate negative to approx 5PSI less than the positive. If you go above the positive rating, the fork will compress into its travel and you'll have a plusher fork, but less travel. If you're looking for more travel, and you can't adjust the spacing on the XX, I'd recommend going the route of the RS Revelation RCT3, or a normal REBA (non XX / World Cup) You haven't said whether it is the niner or sixer variety, but my recommendation would be the same regardless of wheel size. The thing is, your XX isn't as adjustable as the other varieties of Reba. Added to that, afaik it's limited to 90mm (although I could be wrong here) But if you haven't got the desired adjustability now, you'll be frustrated with the Fox. Especially due to the price they demand (all to do with the name) Revelation is the answer.
  7. Btw - XCO is tomorrow. Also gonna be a belter!
  8. It was on this afternoon again - around 1pm. Will probably be repeated tomorrow. DH is on SS9 (I think) at 8. Can't wait!
  9. Pet stores. They're sometimes used to clip off pump hoses. Also - try dischem
  10. That XCE course looked like a good one!
  11. Apparently those swing top Grolsch Bottles don't seal so lekker after they're popped for the first time...
  12. Putting you in touch with a mate of mine that lives in Tokai road, forest side.
  13. Flow = better than Arch. SLightly heavier, quite a bit stronger and a bit wider. I'm 105kg (excl kit) and those are the ones I'd go for.
  14. I like Castle Lite. Far prefer it to castle lager and windhoek light (shudder) Now THAT is cat Piss.
  15. I *MAY* have convinced him to go with the cerise and magenta coloured seasonal traveller, from a certain Rob Roskopp. Hopefully.
