  1. Hahahaha! Avg 300w. Peak 5 min 500w. All day. All night. Pfft.
  2. Yeah, except probably a lot less barge-like. Just kidding - those VT's were great for the time. I just like the ruggedness of that design though. Bracing. Like riding a beatifully engineered I-Beam. I know, I'm strange.
  3. Bullcrap. A hydration pack is not just about the water / hydration. It's about the tool carrying ability, back protection, ease of use as well as stowage capacity. A bottle / back pocket combo just doesn't cut it. To call it a waste of money just because you don't understand it is an argument from incredulity. Ie: I don't understand why, so it is wrong
  4. I was also a bit confused. Punishment? Were they forced not to shower for 3 days? Were they particularly overweight? If not - punishment?!
  5. I actaully think it looks kinda good... Certainly the best option out there at the moment - by a long shot.
  6. I honestly don't know... Have a look at the classifieds, or look at EVO and take 25-30% off the price of a new set. If you have the free-hub body, sell it separately, or keep it.
  7. The old tire thing would work, bit it won't be a lasting repair - you don't want to add too much weight at a single point on the tyre, as it'll oscillate heavily at speed. The best bet is floss on the cut, then oodles of glue, patch, then for a bit of extra cover maybe a larger piece of old tube over the patch. But that would be overkill and will go into the "too much weight" arena.
  8. BUY THESE!!! Strong, light(ish) - certainly lighter than the Alex rims - and will last you ages.
  9. No. Just no. That's blatant consumerism, when the tire can be fixed perfectly and without hassle for the cost of some toothfloss. The tires are BRAND new (if you read the post properly) and can be fixed. Buy a new tyre? No wy.
  10. Stitch it together with dental floss (the waxed variety) - No, I am NOT joking - and then patch it with a thick, large patch from the inside. The Dental Floss will hold it together properly, and prevent the patch from trying to force itself out of the gatjie in the tyre. it'll be a lot stronger than a patch by itself, and if you do it right the floss won't come undone until the tyre is well past its sell by date. Ridden like this for quite a while on my old rear tire and it lasted VERY well.
  11. that's a Kashima fork, not a normal 32 like was on the Vipa.
  12. Yeha - those garden variety alex rims are strong as nails. Well, the newer ones, at least.
  13. At 75kg and an affinity for the jumps, steer clear of the ZTR Olympics. They WILL fold in anything other than lightweight rider XC stuff. They're simply not as strong as the Flow / Arch. Saying that - you'll not get a lot for 3k, but keep an eye out for the ZTR Flow / Arch EX, or, have a look at these... https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/97757-dt-swiss-x1800-26-tubeless/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/96564-mtb-wheels-26/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/95149-easton-ea90xc-wheelset-with-tires-tubeless/
  14. That's like the super duper version of Gun-Gum wrap...
