  1. Dude, you have no idea! Okay, maybe you do. But sheesh! Trading in my XC / DH bikes for a Reign X
  2. Yep yep. Made me realize that I've been missing out. Big time.
  3. You buy direct from them and they ship it. No local agents...
  4. ah. Just rear hub. Go for the Trizoid. Crow has them on his Ibis, which I'm riding on at the moment. Super smooth, and 120 points of engagement.
  5. try the Superstar Trizoids rear, and Switch Evo front. Far quicker engagement than Hope Pro2 Evo, for less than the pro 2 evo. www.superstarcomponents.com the front hub is stupid cheap, and extremely good quality. Rear is even better, and sounds like a CK
  6. Congrats on the recovery, WW. Can't have been easy - a mate of mine had the same thing 3 years ago and has only just started training at higher intensities again. Had to give up a fully sponsored ride offered by a couple of teams because of it... And tell me about it re riding time suffering!!!
  7. mirroring others here - how are you going to gusset the frame? You will need to do quite a bit of wrapping in the BB / Headtube / seat tube areas in order for it to be strong enough to ride properly...
  8. went to the new premises for Cape Town Cycles this arvo. Good stock levels, and looks like a good store.
  9. ROFL. Yeah. I do, don't I!? I'm on duty tonight. Wifey is at squash summer league. Gonna ride tomorrow morning. But rode wed/thur/fri/sat/sun last week. Was dog tired on monday. Couldn't ride yesterday 'cos wifey had a job interview and, you got it, I had to look after the little one.
  10. I'd be tempted to glue something up just for the heck of it!
  11. WHat the hell are you doing on here!!? You just got married, chump!
  12. hell yeah. I've tried, and failed, due to me having to cook for me & my wife. If I were single - easy peasy. Suppose I should try harder...
  13. also - if you're burning 500 - 1000 calories per day excercising, you are effectively putting nothing in. You're burning ALL of the calories you're putting in through exercise, leaving nothing for the body to burn during the day. Theoretically, this would work - if you were adapted to burning fat instead of carbs, then your body would continue to burn fat reserves and you'd continue to lose weight. But by the sounds of things, you're nowhere near keto-adapted, which means that you're not used to burning your fat stores. You're gonna stay there until you change your diet.
  14. Nought dude, don't worry bout tat... you were trusting a dietician to give you a diet with a calorie deficit, knowing that it wouldn't work in the long run. You would eventually plateau because your body would start hanging on to every little bit of nutrition it could get.
  15. That's what I mean. His dietician is counting them for him. You can't reliably exercise and expect to eat just 1,000 Calories per day and lose weight. Your body will hang on to anything it can get, and will store it. You need to eat properly, and not just expect your calorie deficit to make up the miles.
  16. That's the small unit of calories. 1 Calorie = 1,000 calories. Therefore 1kcal = 1 Calorie. Effectively it's americanisms and stoopid ppl stuffing up the standards again. 1 Calorie is 4.3kJ
  17. And I'll say it again = 4300 kJ is 1,027 kCal. You're under-eating, dude. You can only survive on a calorie deficit that big for so long. Your body is hanging on to every morsel it can get hold of You're only having 1,027 Calories PER DAY!!!
  18. And yeah, 4,300kJ is not a lot at all. That's what, 1,027kCal! No wonder you're struggling, dude!
  19. The carbon shouldn't be flexing at that point... It should be designed with high load forces in mind and made as strong as possible. If it flexed, it could be far worse than just a crack. But yes, it COULD potentially be as a result of flex. But in that case, it's a predictor of failure. And chances are that you won't be able to see the crack (if there is one) with the naked eye, unless you use something to penetrate the area and then sand it down again (think of tippex and how it will seep into cracks)
  20. Yeah, bro - but Dorados are DOG heavy, and so are MX bikes. No real weight restriction on the MX side, so your 48mm un-bridged stanchion comparison doesn't really work... Plus - there are LOADS of people who can tell if there's flex in a fork. Consider that when ppl compare these things, it's generally on the same tires / rims / pressures and therefore an accurate representation can be achieved. It's not like settings change each time a new fork is tested. Otherwise the test would serve no purpose, would it?
  21. Why don't you get another Tacx IDT? Proper Spinners (and I mean proper, not the stoopid ones from Sportsmans or Makro) cost the earth. You could buy 10 IDT's for the same amount as you would pay for one spinner.
  22. Absolutely. Look, okay there will be an aluminium collar (tube-shaped) inside the carbon structure, but the structure around the collar will definitely be carbon. And the carbon bit is the bit that is looking as if it is cracked. What Pain said is correct, to a point! The "paint" is in fact more of a gel-coat that covers the entire carbon section of the frame, as well as the face of the BB insert / shell. That's why it looks so thin - it is actually the gel coat, which forms an integral PART of the carbon structure (protects it from the elements) but is not the actual carbon itself. The carbon itself would be under & next to the alu section (shiny bit in the picture) and the alu would be glued flush against the carbon. The piece in question, however, is NOT alu. That forms part of the carbon frame. The only alu bit in there would be a collar that the suspension bolts go through. You cannot weld that section, but you may be able to get someone to do a carbon repair on it. Much like you repair fibreglass structures. But you need to know what you're doing in order to carry out the fix, and it's quite a long process.
