  1. pofadder & maybe boomslang, if we have time... what? you have to ask if beer is okay?!
  2. You, me, Deon, Duane, one Hog (maybe 2) and one or 2 others (possibly) so 5 minimum, but that's enough to get a bit done. Still - FAR too few people!
  3. And DEFINITELY not Mr Min! That stuff will remove paint, decals, grease and grime. And leave your bike wondering what she did to deserve such rampant hostility
  4. LOL... Okay, well, that was written badly, I'll admit. Let me try again - the dust attracting properties of Silicone Spray are less than that of WD 40 due to the chemical composition of said spray. Silicone spray is silica based, and is designed to be a "dry" lubricant, whereas WD40 is an oil-based spray.. WD40 holds on to dust more voraciously than silicone spray does due to the fact that a small layer of oil is left behind when the penetrating hydrocarbons evaporate. Silicone based sprays do not have that property, and therefore do not cling on to dist / dirt as much as the WD40 would. Therefore - dust repellant (but only in comparison to WD40 & Q20)
  5. My father swears by Silicone spray... I must say I am gettin gused to the stuff, and it does have slightly different properties to WD40 & Q20. But anyway - I reckon the dust-repellant properties of the Silicone Spray make it the better option.
  6. A lot of the time, a drop is only as difficult as you think it is. The mind sees what it has done before, and completed before. Repeats help waylay that fear, and if you see a trail dropping off by x metres / feet in front of you, and you've done one of similar / bigger size before, you think "okay, I can do this" and it's so much easier to get over. EDIT: But yeah, you're right to a degree. Which is why it's important to scope a new trail out, and see what it has on it if you're not that confident. That way, you can guage what you've done vs what you're being asked to do, and ride accordingly.
  7. And I think he's conceited enough to make a helluva lot of **** up in the process. Call it creative license. Whatever it is, I believe he was primarily focussing on writing a book, and the veracity of the content came a very distant second.
  8. A bit? Really? Understatement much!? I think he was trying to portray himself as the Prima Ballerina, waylaid from a potential life-altering professional career littered with silverware by others' mean-ness and double dealing. A literary boo-hoo, in other words.
  9. Couldn't agree more, Braai-boy! Only way to get better is to carry on doing it. Repeat repeat repeat. Drop drop drop. Just like surfing & bodyboarding. You don't move on to a different swell. You session the same swell over and over and over through the course of the day, getting better and better and better. Repeat repeat repeat. It eventually gets to a stage when you think "oh - drop. Doo-dah. Whoop!" and pump the hell out of the landing to get more speed into the double. You will never progress if you do the tech sections just once over the ride. Why do BMXers take ages to dial in a course? Because they want to get to be one with the course. Yes, wax on, wax off, buggeroff - but it works. When you see a section you can't do - get off. Assess the lines. Decide where to go. Hit it. Hit it again. And again. And again. Until it feels as hum-drum as your late night telly switch-on routine. You will get better. And you will progress.
  10. EDIT: Those who confessed banned from competing for 5 years. Why? It needs to be more than just a slap on the wrist. This cancer needs to be removed, and a 6 month ban isn't nearly enough to convince them of the error of their ways. Edit2: The 5 year ban can still be viewed as a "deal" as it is still less than what LA is getting.
  11. Erm, dude, it says in the text that he stopped for the photo. He did it. He just didn't say "how's your barbie doll feeling today" to the little girl. No small talk. Nothing wrong with that, surely? The girl got a pic with her Hero.
  12. Maybe 'cos she's harder than you? :-) More of a bias to trail riding. And some ppl just prefer flats and the way you can move around with them.
  13. In answer to your q's... Yes, insurance should over it, but if you hven't selected the all risks option then you may have a fight on your hands. Likewise, if you haven't specified the bike, or the full value of the bike at its current, new replacement cost, then good luck. 2nd: Reba. More adjustable, cheaper and lighter. Kick ass fork. Or you could go for the revelation, and be totally blown away.
  14. He wasn't defending LA. He was riling against the naivety of piling all this "atrocity" at the foot of one man, when he was just the biggest fish in the pond. Rabobank's withdrawal had nothing to do with Lance himself, or, rather, nothing near as much to do with m as you think. It has everything to do with the increasing amount of riders being suspended, investigated and outed as cheats, liars and systemic dopers. The fact that LA is at the head of all of this is incorrect, only because he was the persin USADA went against the hardest in order to get the most amunt of exposure.... It's almost as if he was the "hole in the sandbag" and once he was popped, everyne else followed. Te withdrawals you see now are as a direct result of "everybody else who followed" as well as their testimonies in the report. To think that LA was the sole reason for all these guys pulling out is, actually, as much of an head in the sand situation as all those others who believe that he was the only doper.
  15. Yeah. After this is done, the whole LA "saga" will just be a blip on the radar. He may even be hailed as the guy "who cleared the way for a drug free tour" simply because he is the biggest name, and after the dust has settled, the one who got burnt first, and enabled the flood gates to be opened. Kinda like "if they're targeting LA, we can go ahead with our investigations without fear of being brtanded heretics"
  16. Puffadder is that short steep one next to Ruins, that makes you poff soos 'n paedo in a kindergarten. Switchbacks - needs attention! On the cards, but for the future. Not technically an XC trail, more Trail / AM Below Ruins is Snake Eyes and then Rinkhals. Snake Eyes is up to standard (mostly) but RInkhals is going to be totally revamped - need a beeeeeeg work part for that though, and the new trail needs to be marked out first.
  17. Do nothing drastic. Brookes saddle new chain lube clipless pedals done.
