  1. Also got feedback on the new tabletop and improvements to DH1. DH1 improvements have been received very well. Positive feedback from guys who ride all the time. The tabletop still needs a bit of work though (entry point and line into the table) but has LOADS of potential. Will hopefully be a morning job, as not a lot needs to be done to make it superb.
  2. Epic. Agreed on the start time of early afternoon. Also gives those guys who are riding time to get their ride in and still be able to build. Good news is that I received feedback on the improvements on Vasbyt (the bridge section) and it has been a huge hit. Multiple Thank You's and so on. Flows so nicely now, and you don't have to worry about being swallowed up into Isengard what with all those ruts in the way.
  3. Damn, dude, how short ARE you!? Looks like it was built for a pixie! ROFL. Just kidding mate (mostly) It's a sick looking ride!
  4. + 1 on the chrismakah ride... Come on Tanya!
  5. Damn, Werner. I guess i won't be recommending a sukuma then! You aren't having the best of luck with bikes and theft, are ya? What about a stumpy? Or an enduro?
  6. Also sounds as if it is a Chinese Best Way to Loose 100% fat Fitness remedy number one!
  7. no, just can't accept the normal "push" type of shock. But there are aftermarket replacements that can be used without a problem. It's not a dead end, by any means.
  8. Yeah, Tiny - I'd personally rather get a newer bike than that one. I also think it may be too small for you, tbh! As for the options, I reckon you should go for a 2nd hand FS. Thinking of a Trance (26") or an Anthem (if you want to go 29") but there are loads of bargains out there. In terms of the bike here, there's nothing wrong with it. Yes, it has V Brakes, but you can pick up a set of NEW Deore disc brakes for just over a grand through CRC, so that's not an issue. And if the shock is good, and just been replaced, you need not replace it unless it goes bust again - which could happen with any shock, new or used. BUT! If the bike IS the right size for you, I'd still not go for it. Slap a couple of Disc Specific rims on it (also through CRC / second hand) and you'll have a seriously nice bike, but once you've bought the new rims and brakes you'd be sitting at 7 / 8 k easy. And you can get a decent secondhand FS for that much, or your new naai-ner.
  9. +1 on Ratty's advice. My wife suffers from hypoglycaemia, which also causes low bp due to erratic blood sugar levels (too low after / during hard efforts) and the only way of combating it is by eating low gi stuff and keeping herself hydrated. She zonks out if she hasn't eaten for a while.
  10. It's on its way, isn't it? The importers have it?
  11. Well, from the mouth of Gary Barnard - "this bike is unbelievable!" Saw him in Tokai this weekend. Damn, was he hauling ass!
  12. It's also 'cos Gary is kinda the test rider, so he deserves one.
  13. Yeah, saw him on the trails. Boomslang and vasbyt. I hit them just before he did, both times. Just heard whoops of joy! And the boy is sick at the moment, so i can only imagine how he rides when in top nick. It's also a quiet bike. No clatter to speak of. He reckons the 170mm lyrik matches it perfectly.
  14. Dude, don't let them fox you into buying a bike that's R 2,500 more than something else just because it has a FOX on it. Rule of thumb is that FOX forks, for the same performance, are 50 - 60% more expensive than the comparative Rock Shox fork. And I say this with all the feeling I can muster - THAT REBA IS A FANFREAKINGDOODLETASTIC fork! So no, it's not worth the extra bucks. In fact, it may be the Fox 32RL, in which case it is vastly inferior to the Reba, having only rebound adjust whereas the Reba will have rebound, compression, pos & negative air pressure adjustments and is infinitely better than any Fox that sells for less than R 7k. Yes, Fox has the name. That's why they sell for more!
  15. Eric - the bike is actually a final production unit, not a test model. Saw him again today and asked him. He's had it for approx 1 month... And his actual verdict -his words were "Man, this thing leans! You put it in the corners and put it over and it says "is this all you got? It just gives more and more!" " And damn - he can ride.
  16. okay guys, remember - this would need to be replacement value at current NEW retail prices. I have a feeling that the frame alone will be more than R10k in this case. you cannot insure an asset for it's replacement value at a second hand state. Always new, current prices.
  17. Haha! I know that place well. Or, I would, if I knew where it was!
  18. oh - and seeing as Deon isn't posting deets of what we did on Vasbyt (Meurant's) - we revitalized the bridge section and made it rain friendly. It's now FAR more flowy, and rut-free. Must hit it tomorrow morning as well to see how it goes. That used a LOT of man-hours, and unfortunately we didn't get to start on My Ruts as we had hoped. That shall have to wait for another day.
  19. I'll be up there tomorrow so will attempt the table! Oh - and Duane - I left my spade in your trok's bin. It's the one with the orange handle. I'll pick it up from you on the next build day...
  20. yeah, assumed as much. But seemed as if it was "his" for keeps.
  21. Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but Pain or Shine, Omega Man and myself saw a brand spanking new Sukuma on an RP23 and RS Lyrik this morning in Tokai. So - someone has his!
