  1. Hahahaha!!! Those old ATX's were damn good bikes. But the guy is clearly smoking something!
  2. That's a VERY good price, Hairy. Lekker bike as well.
  3. Yeah. And for that price, I'd rather have a Commencal Meta AM frameset and the DH frameset. I'd still come in under 35k.
  4. riding and then building at Tokai tomorrow, tonight is an "Olympics Party" and sunday Lunch with mates.... With a ride beforehand.
  5. Yeah, I was there on Wednesday and DH1 / Vasbyt were looking haggard. DH3 held up a bit better. Deon - we need to make a plan to do some rock armouring. Only if we can get hardhats though...
  6. Little Mayhem. I wasn't tired - only went to sleep at 4 this morning, and woke up again at 7. Now I'm on the caf.
  7. ai ee ai ee ai - I am your butterfly. I need your protection you're my samurai!
  8. I just brush my bike off with a broom / duster if it's got excess mud on it. Otherwise, silicon spray keeps all the important bits clean. I like the grease to stay in place, thanks... I find things last longer when they aren't cleaned and lubed every second minute... I do give them a good rub down and re-grease every 2 or 3 months though. Full stripdown, re-grease and rub clean. NO WATER / suds.
  9. No tone - just telling it how it is. Just build, criticize constructively, and enjoy the trails. Just don't launch attacks against people who are devoted to improving the trails in Tokai, saying that they would make "excellent politicians" and that they are "piss poor" at their job. Thanks. We're building this saturday, if you're interested.
  10. Dude, if you're prepared to pay R 2,5k for the XTC 26 frame, then the extra R 500 that you'd lose from going across to the 29er won't be an issue!
  11. I personally find it really hard to accept that argument, Nishiki. We love working on the trails, because we love riding them and we know that we will reap the rewards at the end of the day. Ask any person who has worked on a trail whether they think that the time was a "waste" and you would probably receive a blank look followed by a "you're crazy" 5 seconds later. And we're not asking you to fight the battle. If you WANT some input, come and build. It's that simple. You'll probably learn 10 times more from one build session than you would from 10 b1tch sessions on the Hub. And how many times must we continue to show you that the time spent with Parks has NOT been wasted? Deon has repeatedly divulged information, as have I, and yet you continue to perform a little dance in your personal space of debilitation. And you're wrong - it is altruism. We see it as OUR work. We love doing it (building trails & making sure they're maintained) - if you don't, then fine. That's your loss.
  12. nah, it's actually perfect. Only problem is I'll have to move the couch from where it is at the moment... Not a problem for long!
  13. I had 2 on my DH bike. DAMN, that ride from Wynberg into Sea point was a killer on that thing!
  14. It's really no hassle to order from them. It's the old argument - immediate satisfaction vs long term reward. Just wait a bit. It's worth it.
  15. The thing is, Ramsew, that the worries from those outside the "circle of trust" as it were, are all valid concerns. The state of trails. The maintenance issues. New trails. Etc etc. The problem is that nobody actually knows how hard it is to deal with Parks, and how long the approvals process takes. This results in anger, frustration and a general feeling of "nothing happening" even though there is tons happening behind the scenes in meetings, proposal processes, EIA's etc. Not to mention that there HAS been maintenance on the trails recently, and last year / the year before that etc. It's also compounded by the fact that this is public land, not private. This introduces so many more challenges, and increases the approval timeline even further. Deon has been saying for a while now that we need to be patient, and the thing is we need to remain patient. Things are changing, and changing faster than before. SANPARKS have admitted that the process has been held back on their side, for valid reasons (I went into this earlier) but more and more attention is being placed on MTB in Tokai. They want it to work. And yes, working parties, for the time being, will remain volunteer based. It's the nature of the beast at the moment, but tbh you get a few guys who WANT to help out, wihtout any pay whatsoever, because they want their sweat to be in the trails that they ride. As for changes to Tokai itself - I know I have said this before. But it remains true, even though more than 3 months has gone by since the refurb of Snake Eyes. Upgrades are on the way. You've seen this in Deon's posts here as well. Chin up okes - it's coming. It just takes time!
  16. no problem, DJR. You'd be covered. Same as if you cross the road in front of a car etc. They even cover against suicide, if it's more than 2 years since the start of the policy. If the car was being driven by your enraged spouse though...
  17. don't you know naainers come with built in wings? you don't even need to jump 'cos they're so awesome they float over any gap you point them at.
